Having seen both these teams play a couple times, they are just average football teams at best. Neither team has any game breakers on offense and both will give up the big play from time to time on defense. Northern Kentucky 6A as a whole is just not very good.

Rain is supposed to pass by game time, so mostly just a wet field.

I will go further, outside of Highlands, Beechwood, and CovCath, Northern Kentucky as a whole is just not very good.

Agreed, after those three this is the biggest fall off I’ve seen in some time.

I think it's been slowly happening for quite awhile now. Not much has changed at the top but the depth has been diminishing year over year. I see it in other sports as well, not just football.

I know I mentioned this as few weeks ago that besides for the top 3, NKY as a whole is down this year. With that said, I disagree that its been diminishing year over year. In fact I think NKY football has been pretty strong over the last few years with more teams even making runs in the playoffs.

Beechwood, CovCath, Highlands have been doing their thing still over the last few years. However, over the last few years you had Cooper make multiple state title games. You had Ryle in a state title game, and a State Semi-Final game in 6A. Highlands themselves would have been in two state title games over the last 3 years, if it wasn't for Cooper as Cooper beat them in State Semifinals two years in a row.

We have also seen either Ludlow and Newport have teams playing for regional championships over the last couple of years. Lloyd just last year was playing in the State Semifinals and was just a couple of plays away from playing for a state title.

As a whole I believe NKY actually has been really strong over the last few years before this year and seen success across multiple classes. A lot of those teams lost a lot of talented players to graduation, which is a part of the drop off we have seen this year.

I agree. Beechwood, Highlands and CCH all are not immune to the talent cycles the rest of the schools experience, there's are just less drastic. They've all had dips, but currently the rest of NKY is closer to a depression. Schools will bounce back. Holmes is on the rise (from the depths), Dayton has plenty of talent next year, NewCath in year 2 of Brown will only improve, Cooper and Ryle are rebuilding...

It's bad this year, but it's not a crash.
