Bullitt East comes into the game fresh off of securing The Bullitt Cup for the 6th consecutive year with a 35-0 victory at Bullitt Central. The Chargers are 3-1 on the season after dropping their week 1 contest vs Bowling Green before winning 3 straight against Franklin County and the two other Bullitt County schools.

Central enters the game sitting at 2-2 with their only 2 losses coming against pretty good competition, Manual and Belfry. They have won their most recent two games against Shawnee and Butler.

These two teams are pretty even the last 30 years and East has won 2 of 3 since they began playing regularly again in 2023.

The only thing new to the series is the head man at Central as Marvin Dantzler was let go (or quit) last December. These games have been competitive for the most part. Who do you like in 2026?

Hope the fish is frying beyond the North end zone again.

East goes 3 and out to start the game. Central takes over and gains some yards in several plays but have been whistled for several penalties. Finally take a sack and forced to punt. Then hit the punt returner who had called fair catch. East takes over on Central 43. Holding called in first play.

3 min to go in the half. Still 0-0. Central getting some first downs but East is not. Both teams have a rain influenced fumble. Now in lightning delay.

Game has resumed. Central gets a couple of firsts before a bad snap sets them back a ways. Both coaches let clock run the last couple of plays to get to halftime. Shortened half will last 8 minutes. Hopefully we get to finish now.

I've typed about three versions of this but keep erasing to keep myself out of trouble. So let's try one more time.

The second lightning delay happens a little less than 3 min into the second half. East had the ball 2nd and 5 on about the 35 yard line of Central. During the delay Central officials (coaches and admin) say that they are calling the game. East officials (coach and AD) say they want to finish. Either tonight, Sat or Sunday. Central says not possible and that it will be a no contest. East does not agree.

The game officials are sent home by Central and East players are told to empty their locker room.

I don't know if East will pursue a forfeiture with the KHSAA or not. But I think they have a very good case.

It will be interesting to see how this is decided.
