2026 Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Game

I just saw the box score for the second game.  Indiana played 11 players and all of them played ten minutes plus.  Kentucky had two players at less than 3:00, Ateny and Jung.  I don’t know anything about Jung but Ateny can play.   He had 18 and 10 against Salsman’s Lexington Catholic team during the season so he’s seen him in person.

Owens and McGillis were no shows for the second game.  I have no idea as to why but could it be because of playing time?

Last Saturday at the scrimmage game McGillis was absent, Spurlock was there in street clothes.  I'm assuming both were hurt.

Ateny and Jung really had no business on the team, but who do you replace them with?  They just couldn't contend with the strength and size of the Indiana front line.

They could play 10 games and Indiana would win 8 or 9 of the 10 games.  Indiana just has more talent.

Sometimes HUDL will broadcast a game and only list the site and not the teams. This might be it but it requires a paid subscription.  https://fan.hudl.com/usa/ky/louisville/organization/18375/eas

If I'm being honest, Jake Feldhouse was the best player on the court from both Kentucky and Indiana.

Oh. I totally agree, but one guy can't beat 8 or 9 solid players.

I hate to single out one player but I thought Surratt should have gotten some of Johnson’s minutes at guard. Johnson struggled mightly from the field in both games.

Would you waste your time and come if you know you’re not going to play? This felt personal on the coach behalf towards certain kids. Not saying KY wins but anyone who’s watched the careers of Ashford, Owens and Suratt knows they are dawgs and make this game more interesting. Not to mention they’re playing in front of all their friends and families at home in Lexington one last time before college. Owens literally walked across the stage for graduation a couple hours before the game. Salsman knew what he was doing.

Johnson has looked like that all 4 years IMO against actual competition and big games. Been same height and size since 8th grade and his game never got better.

Who wins if you choose not to go? Is it really a waste of time? Don't you get to meet and hang around with other great players? Experience the game from the best seat in the house even if you don't play?

....... Don't let your ego and/or your feelings get in the way of unique experiences in life. Never let any coach take something like that away from you. Who cares what other people say if you don't play? Hopefully your ego can withstand that. Maybe they will look at the coach and say, why didn't you play him or her - so it doesn't reflect negatively on you at all does it?

Don't quit a team or a sport in high school because of a coach, because it is a once in a lifetime experience. If you are putting in the work, you deserve the experience. Find a way to get the most out of it. Enjoy your teammates. Be the best teammate you can be. Enjoy making yourself the best you can be at whatever you are working at. Create some good memories and experiences that you will think about the rest of your life.

Yea that would be the case in most situation we talking about an high school all-star game as graduating seniors. One that’s been dominated by Indiana at that.  The guys from the Lexington area he’s coached against last 4 years. Including Lexingtons all-time leading scorer, and a kid who was the MVP of the 16. This was those players last chance to play in front of friends and family. Also We saw the guys he chose to play them over and outside 1 there’s no reason they all should’ve played way more the way that game was going.
