Then after taking the lead 7-5 Tony Santillan gives up 3 in the top of the 8th and now the Reds trail again 8-7 heading to the top of the 9th.

Nathaniel Lowe, who wasn’t even in the original starting lineup, belted two homers, including a two-run walkoff blast with two outs in the bottom of the 9th.

The Reds (17-9) are now 11-0 in games decided by two runs or fewer, including 7-0 in 1-run games.

The Reds had rallied from a 5-0 deficit to lead 7-5 in the 7th, thanks to Matt McLain’s two two-run homers.

But Tony Santillan, unscored upon in his first 11 appearances, allowed two homers and three runs in the 8th as the Tigers took and 8-7 lead. 

The Reds trailed 5-0 after four innings, and 5-3 before a nearly two hour rain delay in the 7th. McLain’s second homer of the night tied the game as part of a four run 7th.
