I wouldn't say that to Grayson County .

I don't know that Apollo wins their District, much less the region. With the addition of a previously homeschooled player who is a tremendous athlete and rebounder to go along with Michael Acton and some good young talent, I'd say that Daviess will be right back in the thick of it this year. No knock on Apollo; they are certainly the district favorite and have all the pieces to make a run at a region title, but I think this region will be more interesting than some may think.

On paper, Apollo should dominate the district, and should be one of the favorites for the region. Luis Rosado has entered Apollo's halls, standing at 6'6 with a massive frame. He will be a huge compliment to the size that Apollo already has.

Ever since the end of the season last year, I think the consensus would be that Grayson and Apollo are the top 2 teams. With the additions to both teams from the end of the year to now, I don't see that changing. Grayson loses more from a production and minutes standpoint with the graduation of Armstrong and Mardis than Apollo does, but regained some experience with Braden Wright and Jonah Massey. I expect the trio of Logsdon, Langdon, and Gaither to continue to carry the load for the Cougars from what I have seen in the summer. Apollo brings its core back that has been with Coach Tinsley from the beginning. Adding some huge talent and size to the roster only gives them depth and opens up more scoring options.

I hope to see this matchup in the Region Championship and not a second-round matchup. Grayson will coast through the district by no less than 30pt victories while Apollo will have to show up every night to win. I think when it comes down to it, Apollo and Coach Tinsley will have something special cooked up defensively for the Cougars that they've never seen before. Adjusting to it might give them all the edge they need to get it done and go to Rupp.

If Apollo doesn't make it to Rupp it will be disappointing.
