Ram, I spoke with the radio station which gave them some time. The director told me they love to be attacked and in their court cases they win almost every time. Thats why on their site they say "we don't need your money".

The thing with scripture it says that they will stand before Christ and will answer to him. Also on the site they have a list of funerals they plan on protesting. This can't be a Church.

They responded back to me. They didn't care for my suggestions, but they wasn't mean or anything. The lady was trying to show me why funerals was their format. I'll respond back. I can't change their minds, but God can.

With all the yayhoo rednecks who crave violence in this state, why have none of these folks been tabbed to "take care" of Mr. Phelps' flock during one of their many prior visits? This just escapes me …

In this case I wouldn't mind a little southern justice.

To be fair, there are those who are not yayhoo rednecks that crave violence.

Maybe invite him to a funeral and not tell him it's his?

Sounds great, but I don't think Mr. Phelps has been at any of the protest (not in the Ashland area at least). He sends his understudies, most of which are attorneys. He gives phone interviews prior to their arrival and says he is coming, but when they show up he is not present.

I'm doing a semester-long research paper on these wackos. So far, the thing that has me the most baffled about this group is how HAPPY they are with their behavior. Most of the time when you see pictures of protesters, they are angry or shouting or generally uncomfortable looking, trying to add on some pity to their cause. The WBC photos are always of members SMILING, so full of JOY. This is a very useful tactic is utterly ticking people off. They'd get attacked that much more because people want to see their smiles punched off of their faces. My understanding is that the families that the church consists of (the Phelps and the Hockenbargers) are rich in well-educated lawyers. Of course, I feel I'm using an oxymoron stating members of the WBC are "well-educated". We should be thankful that this group is only comprised of about 150 members. Even if the families grow and continue to "spread the message", odds are eventually they'll interbreed so much that they'll lose their abilities to do well in courts, and slowly but surely will fade into obscurity.

Where's Janet Reno and her AFT team when you really need them?

The Christian side of me won't let me agree with you...oops I guess I just did.....disregard the first part of my post.:sssh: ;)

As I have said numerous times, I would support the forceful deportation of these yahoos. I see ZERO reason why they should continue to have their right to free speech.

I know that will get some of you up in arms, but I don't care. There should be some decency, especially when you are making Christianity look so bad.

Have Pat Robertson escort them to the borders and before he knows what is going on, close the door behind the Westboro Church and him to.

Seriously, I truly believe that Satan sets thinks up like this in the name of supposed Christianity to weaken the view of Christians and their intended effectiveness. I see them as tools of Satan in an attack on the effectiveness of Christians.

I see ZERO reason why they should continue to have their right to free speech.

Well, I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you here.

Well, I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you here.

Hear me out first. This country has designated certain areas that WE DON'T have the right to free speech.

This country has said, it is NOT your right to make threats on a person. Limitation on this right of free speech.

This country has said, it is NOT your right to say something that creates a dangerous atmosphere for others. Yelling fire in a crowded theater.

This country has said, we can limit WHERE you can have the right of your free speech during political rallies because of the safety of those in attendance.

If that can be afforded to our politicians, WHY in the world can it not be afforded to funerals.

Do our politicians deserve better treatment than the burial of our fallen warriors?

I am not arguing on whether it is right or wrong to have the free speech zone for political rallies but that our country has taken that route. Of which, I don't think anyone can argue that. And I don't remember any court case that has indicated that our country cannot do that.

That being said, why can't we protect the funerals of our fallen warriors. No protests within a 2 block distance from the funeral home, the path of the funeral trek or the cemetary.

We give that to politicians, why not our fallen warriors?

If I were at a funeral of a friend and they protested it they'd have a fight they didn't bargain on.... On a side note.... that preacher is one creepy looking dude.....

This Church (?) only reason it is around is to protest at Funerals. they tried to go to Bardstown and protests but were allowed to have some air-time on WLRS here in Louisville. I wrote them and asked..." why Funerals"?

Here's an opinion article in today's Bardstown paper about these idiots:
