Probably 04?  Walt Allen went to Presbyterian college in SC, and Ty Profitt went to Notre Dame from the State Champion South Laurel Cardinals team who was still in the 12th Region before realignment.  Team was absolutely stacked with skill and size.

In the 70’s there were two D1 athletes on the same team but they were one year apart.  McCreary County had Dennis Tindle (Auburn) and Tim Stephens (UK).

Those South Laurel teams were good.  I did not realize that Ty went to Notre Dame.

Good for him but I don't really consider that the same as when Faulkner scored over 3,000 points and was Mr. Basketball then went D-1 on a full ride.  Faulkner and Fitzgerald both went D-1 on full scholarship in 2018.  Faulkner averaged 26 a game and Fitzgerald averaged 30.  If being sub 6 ft tall and averaging 11 PPG is the new standard for D1 then we have a ton of those in the 12th region now.  Many teams probable have several players that meet that criteria.

Both studs.  Watts went to Cumberlands though, right?

One of the better college prospects I remember was Somerset’s Mark Fothergill.  He was 6-9 and played at Maryland.  He played in the ACC championship game against UNC.  He was good enough to get on the floor with the likes of Jordan, Sam Perkins, and Len Bias. He wasn’t as good as them but he was no slouch and earned playing time in that league.

He had some of his best games in college against Ralph Sampson.  I remember him talking about how he would try and get in Sampson's head.  He would untie his shoe laces when they were lined up next to each other at the free throw lane, that sort of thing.

Agree with that.  I have seen the kid play a couple of times and there is no way he is D1.  He is a solid high school player and does a good job of leading his team but D1 never crosses my mind on him.

Not sure. But he was much a D1 talent as anyone.
