Didn't historians later review the facts of that situation? Apparently they discovered that, at the time of the attack, the arm of the Byzentine army under the control of Alexius V was moving forward (running for their lives) through the city gates.

 

Since Alexius' arm was moving forward while the Venetian navy was attacking by sea, it was ruled an incomplete passage. Therefore the Crusaders were not awarded the sack.

 

Although to this day, most people think the Byzentines just dropped the ball. I don't know -- that's just what I heard somewhere.

I assume you were meaning believers and unbelievers? I again say both. It is for believers to grow and mature and learn both through study and service. It is for unbelievers a place to go and find out about the love of Jesus Christ.

I know that most other Denominations believe that people who are saved that belong to other Denominations can go to heaven.From my experience with The Church of Christ they believe that they are the only ones getting into heaven.

 

I was not aware of this although I do know that they are rather "my way or the highway". Surely, they don't really think they have all the answers. I don't think even old Alexander Campbell thought that way.

 

That is a generalization that, while certainly true of some congregations I know, is definitely not true of all Church of Christ congregations. There is danger in painting with such a wide brush.

I didn't say they should. I just indicated it was a place they could go and find out about it. And let's be honest, let's say there is a drug dealing prostitute that wants out of that lifestyle and curious about Jesus because of someone who witness to her. The easiest route for that person to go looking is the church house on the corner.

 

Christians sin. More or less I would say depends on the person. If a Christian feels they do not sin, my belief, is they are mistaken. I see being perfect as not sinning against God. I would be interested in seeing the Scriptures you would use to say that Christians do not sin.

 

The same Paul you mention is the one who lamented about why his body/mind did things that he knew he shouldn't do.

lbbc beat me to that question. I think Pauls description of the struggles between the Spirit living in us and the flesh, which is sinful by its very nature, is very revealing of the same human struggles we still suffer today, even Christians. Our flesh is weak.

The church is composed of believers (people who are saved through Jesus Christ). Followers of Christ are supposed to be the light of the world, therefore I would say the church is composed of true Christians and it's purpose is to proclaim the truth to the world and bring more people into the body of Christ, while growing and maturing in their own faith. So, I would have to say it's for both...it is for the growth and maturity of us in Christ and for a witness to the rest of the world to bring them into the truth.

 

I am reminded of a study we recently did in our Sunday School class about spiritual gifts. It seems that some of the gifts are geared more toward edifying the body of believers, while others are aimed more at witnessing to the unsaved. From that view, if our Spiritual gifts are to be used for both, then I think the church has to be for both.

Great site, it is very interesting. My only problem is the Catholic authority is listed as "Scripture and tradition" when it should be "Scripture and Tradition". May not seem like a big deal to some (and I'm assuming it is a typing error) but there is a big difference in my world (as a Catholic).

The site isn't a Catholic one, so I assume they don't have the same practices you'd find on a Catholic site. I've also noticed that many people don't capitalize the "J" in Jesus or the "G" in God, which I was taught would be a grave sign of disrespect. Most people who aren't Catholic also don't capitalize the "C" in Catholic when referencing the Church (or the "C" in church for that matter)
