Oklahoma when you look at their resume had not really beat anyone this year, and their best win was Bama. Besides that they hadn’t beat anyone and was horrible on offense all year.

Indiana may have beat mostly anyone yesterday, but I don’t think it would have been complete domination like they did against Bama. Bama simply over the last month and a half really hasn’t looked or played like a top football team.

But they still deserved to be there over Notre Dame.

Did they? The college football playoffs is supposed to choose the best at large teams correct? Nothing about how Bama played over the last month and a half suggested that they were even a top 10 type team with how they were playing. Quite honestly the same could be said about Oklahoma too.

Committee thought so.

Great experience. Indiana has one of the best football teams I’ve ever seen.  Very impressive.

I disagree at least in regards to Notre Dame. Bama heading into the playoffs hadn’t played good football in over a month even before the playoffs. Bama fortunately played an Oklahoma team in the playoffs who has zero offense and really only reason Oklahoma was in it, was cause they beat Bama. Bama wasn’t played like and wasn’t even looking like one of the best teams in the country heading into the playoffs. As Bama struggled with bad/average teams and then got boat raced by good team over the last month and a half.

Who did Notre Dame beat in the last month that was worth playing? Their last five opponents put up 22 wins on the season with 7 of those by Pitt. Notre Dame played basically a JV schedule down the stretch...they don't get bonus points for playing pushovers.

Maybe they would have done better...but there is absolutely no way of knowing.

Pitt would have been their best win in that last month, as Pitt was ranked at the time until Notre Dame put it on them to move them out of the rankings. Which no doubt Notre Dame schedule down the stretch wasn’t that great, but they also took care of those teams easily as you would expect a top team to do.

On the other hand Bama obviously started the year with a horrible lost to a bad FSU team. Then last 6 games of the year, they were trailing by 8 to a bad South Carolina team late in the 4th quarter. Only beat a bad LSU team 20 to 9. Lost at home to Oklahoma. Best a Division 2 school, needed a fourth down conversion to a bad Auburn team who had also fired their coach. Then beat down by Georgia in SEC title game. Since the end of October they had not looked like a top team at all.

And they really don't have a leg to stand on with that argument, based on how they performed in their bowl game. ?
