Why so much time between games? I’ve never understood it. Texas Tech, Indiana, Ohio State and Georgia all have been off for a month by the time they finally play again. Just doesn’t make sense to me.

I agree and off the top of my head I think the NCAA forces three extra weeks into this circus.

TV might add weeks along with conferences, NCAA has nearly no control over college football.

They don't though, at least not in big boy football. They get no money from TV contracts either, the NCAA is effectively locked out of college football. 

The NCAA screwed up years ago by not forcing a Division 2 type playoff on the big boys, now they just sit and watch.

This was a topic of discussion since before Notre Dame got hosed in 1993, and I’m sure before then. At that point in time people across the college football landscape knew the other divisions had a full 16 team playoff and it was all about the bowl tie in money back then, just as the bowl tie ins mean a lot to the major bowls now.

It is and the WKU QB is having a huge second half.  Maverick McIvor!  He originally went to Texas Tech.  From Wikipedia:

McIvor spent three seasons at Texas Tech, not receiving any playing time.[5] Following the 2021 season, he transferred to Abilene Christian University where he was named the starting quarterback.[6] In his first season at Abilene Christian, McIvor threw for 2,212 yards with 16 touchdowns.[7] He had a breakout year during the 2024 season.[8] In the season opener against his former team, Texas Tech, McIvor threw for 506 yards and three touchdowns, being named the FCS National Offensive Player of the Week.[9] After recording 3,828 yards and 30 touchdowns, he entered the transfer portal for a second time.[10]

On January 6, 2025, McIvor announced his decision to transfer to Western Kentucky University to play for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.[11] Entering the 2025 season, he was named the Hilltoppers starting quarterback.[12][13] In the season opener against Sam Houston, McIvor threw for 401 yards and totaled four touchdowns in a 41–24 victory.[14]
