February 8, 200719 yr Dick Vitale was right. This team does not have a go to scorer. I think the team has some good wing players in Henderson, Sheyer, and Nelson. But McRoberts is really their only inside presence and he isnt a big scorer. And Paulus has been getting out-classed atleast every other game for a while now.

February 8, 200719 yr I watched the game and have seen some of Duke's games recently and if they are getting better that only tells me that they weren't very good before. Sunday at home against Florida State they don't score in the last 3 minutes and lose by 1. Last night at home, fans going nuts, biggest rival, 10 point second half lead, can't make any big free throws, and lose a huge game. I wasn't talking about that game, I was talking about this game against UNC. If you play one of the best teams in the nation, and you are beating them by about 10 for majority of the game then I'd say you are getting alot better. If UK had done the same thing you would have said they are starting to play really well, they just need to finish games..... well this is what Duke needs to start doing now, finish games. Duke will be fine!

It's not playing a very emotional game at home agianst you're biggest rival, keeping it close and saying how much better they are playing. I would not say anything like that about UK.

February 8, 200719 yr From the NC board Hey folks, Dickie V here, back with some thoughts on another classic in the Duke-Carolina series. It was another De Vinci in this historic series, chock full of incredible moments. Ah, where should I begin? The Cameron Crazies were awesome as ever. Ah, baby, is there no end to their genius? Did you notice we had Batman and Robin in the stands, complete with a “zap” and “pop” sign? We’re talking the Caped Crusaders in Cameron! What an awesome ring that has to it! That’s what you call creative, sophisticated fans, my friends. And how about those awesome cheers? I just love it when the Dookies bob up and down and let out that united chant of “Aaahhhhhhhhhh!” It gets to me just as much as it did when I first heard them do it – thirty years ago! It’s just one example of the great Duke tradition that we all know and love! I just can’t believe how many people say they don’t see the beauty of this; how many say they can’t even understand why the students jump up and down shouting meaningless sounds for an entire game. Well I’m here to tell you, my friends, if there’s one thing I can appreciate, it’s people jumping up and down, shouting senseless babble, even as their favorite team is losing before their eyes! I call it passion, with a capital P! Yes, my friends, you just gotta love the passion that these students have for their team. This makes two years in a row that the Duke students spent 10 weeks sleepy on the cold, soggy, litter strewn ground outside of Cameron – all for the privilege of watching their team lose to its bitter rival! That’s what you call dedication, devotion, determination. They’re the 3-D students, baby! How can you not respect that loyalty? How many student bodies across America would spend that much time in tents and shanties to watch their team bite the big one for the third straight game? How many? Once again, it’s only something you’ll see at Duke University! Now, as for the game itself, you just have to tip your hat off to the Blue Devils. The way they have overachieved this season has been just stupefying! I mean we’re talking about a team that was decimated by graduation last year. It’s a team that consists of a measly National High School Player of the Year, National Gatorade Player of the Year, Mr. California, and fewer than eight McDonald’s High School Americans. And, still, here they come with the passion and intensity that is Duke’s hallmark. You could just see the passion with every Henderson goal tend and every defensive flop. And you could see the passion in Mr. McClure’s eyes each of the three times that the referees stopped play for his aching leg! And I’ll tell you who can vouch for Duke’s defensive intensity: Tyler Hansbrough, that’s who! Did you notice how many times Tyler was knocked woosey? He collected more open cuts than Rocky Balboa, and not once of them resulted in a foul! He had his contact lens knocked clean out of his eye, and still no foul called. It’s just unbelievable that a team can play such intensive defense and yet deliver it with such finesse as to avoid the foul call. In fact, did you notice how Duke actually ended the game with a free throw shooting advantage? Even after spending the last two minutes of the game intentionally fouling? Yes sir, you take away the nine free throws that Carolina took over the last ninety seconds due to intentional fouls, and the free throw tally comes to 19 – 9 in favor of Duke. That’s what you call total domination from the line, my friends! Of course none of this should come as a surprise. Not when you’re talking about the number one program coached by the number one leader in the history of the free world. There’s no doubt about it, only Michael Krzyzewski could take a team of such limited talent and lead them to the successful season they have already had. Sure, this was their third consecutive L and the second straight on their great home floor. Sure they are falling like a ton of bricks in the conference standings. But it doesn’t take away their impressive streak of non-conference Ws. It doesn’t diminish one bit the glory of their come from behind wins against Holy Cross, Kent State, and San Jose State. It doesn’t detract one iota from Coach K’s incredible wins against Georgia Southern, Columbia, and Davidson. No my friends, Coach K’s record speaks for itself. And the bottom line is this: even when Coach K goes down, he does it with incredible class, composure, and expertise. Yes sir, even when it comes to going down, Coach K is the best there is! Even the thought of Coach K going down brings excitement to my heart! So that’s my recap on another awesome game in this legendary rivalry. Oh, and I almost forgot, congratulations to Carolina for the win.

Ok.. well what I said still goes with the FSU game too I just wasn't talking about that. They had a chance to win it and finish it, but they didn't. Same goes for almost all of their games they have lost except for Marquette and Georgia Tech. 3 losses by a total of 5 points and add in this UNC game which they had a big lead in. I'll take it.
