* For Beechwood, Highlands, and Lloyd the fact that quite a few players could be opting out on playing basketball this winter could change things drastically. But IF they end up playing at some point before district tournaments I could see this being realistic going into the 9th Region Tournament.

 

And remarkably, Cov Cath has five footballers opting in per their current roster - Harney, Bradshaw, Gaiser, Courtney, and Myers.

I think Meyers gives them a lot of good minutes this year. He has a good all around game and his body is developed to put opposing teams players at a disadvantage in a lot of matchups.

I agree as I cannot wait to see Courtney and Myers suit up this year as their physical and game development as simply exploded.  
 

Prior to football you still have:

McGillis(this years upcoming 9th Region POY)

Myrick(arguably one of the top if not best shooters/3Ballers in the 9th Region

Stava a Junior and starter last year who will be a defensive beast and be the utility knife who can do it all

Brecount a 6-8 Jr Center who has had a monster off season who should have a Neil Green effect on this roster that Neil had when He hit the starting lineup as a Jr.

Only question is, until the Pigskin guys come back, who is that 5th starter?

And when you look at all the non-seniors on the roster, footballers included, along with the freshman class that’s coming in, that is absolutely loaded, the cupboard is mighty stocked for the next few years.

Agreed. Cov Cath is absolutely loaded and both Myers and Courtney will be major contributors this year, particularly on defense. They also have two juniors (Justice and Hoyt) who can really shoot it and who I expect we'll see a lot of early in the season, but may have a hard time finding minutes when the football players are back.

Wow, Beechwood at 3, that seems high even if Fryman plays. You must know something that I don't.

Nope. I think you are very in tune. Just a gut feeling.

NCC roster on KHSAA website is not accurate. They are going to have at least 2 seniors return after not playing their Jr year and 2 athletic transfers joining as well. All football kids so their size and physicality will get a nice bump from last year.

Was thinking the same thing with Beechwood at #3. Like with all these rankings time will tell as we get the season going. FWIW here is my pre-season top 5.

Only thing you forgot was the gap between 1 and 2 ?.

I don't disagree with the gap at all as Cov Cath is the clear #1 for sure. I've also been around sports long enough to know that the season doesn't always play out the way we think. The beauty of sports is that anything can happen especially in high school sports. One bad night. ?

I feel the same just like to juice up the Cov Cath- Highlands rivalries every chance I can get. A lot of passion and prestige there between the 2.
