Reed Sheppard in the starting lineup tonight for Rockets - (Not Official)

Featured Replies

Reed has settled into the NBA style of play and will be in the starting lineup tonight for the Rockets vs OKC, just took a little time for adjustment but he is rolling right now and had a great preseason. Roll Reed!!

Where did you see this? Yesterday, Houston announced their starting lineup for tonight. It did not include Reed.

Thompson, Durant, Sengun, Smith Jr., and Adams are who Udoka said were starting.

That is a massive lineup, btw. Amen Thompson playing PG at 6'7" is crazy.

I could see Udoka tweaking lineups quite a bit, and I expect Reed to play a lot, including being in the starting lineup through the season. During the preseason, he was letting it fly much more, which is what the Rockets want him to do.

I agree on massive, I "googled" this and that was the talk, massive, lol!

Thought I read that after the last preseason game, probably wrong as per usual but he was playing really well then.

After the FVF injury, many thought he would be thrust into the role. But Udoka is about 2 things. 1) Creating the most havoc possible on defense; 2) Rebounding. Reed is great at jumping in passing lanes and collecting steals, but until his on-ball defense is to his liking, Reed will come off the bench. At some point though, that line of thinking is a diminishing return. Amen is an athletic freak. So, let him be that with Shepperd in the facilitator role.

Lil rocky tonight for Reed. He played 28 minutes, but that’s probably 15 more than  Udoka wanted to play him. I thought he was going to punch Sheppard after his last turnover. You can tell they don’t trust him to run the point, which isn’t good. Hopefully he finds a groove.

The game went to 2OT, which probably played a big part in everyone’s minutes. A 125-124 thriller going OKC’s way.

Reed had a couple three’s and looked a little shaky at the point, but nobody actually looked great for either team last evening, keep moving forward Reed and you will get there.

And in fairness, OKC is not the best barometer. There is not a team I would want to play less from a ball pressure standpoint. J-Dub was out, which probably made things a little easier, but when you have Caruso, Dort, Shai, et al. attacking you, it's not going to end well.

The difference in the OP and what actually happened is wild. LOL

I have First Things First on and they echoed the they don't trust Reed thoughts, said he couldn't create any separation, and he can't defend...

Reed's running-mate in college, Rob Dillingham, was a DNP last night in the Wolves' season opener. Minnesota invested A LOT to snag Rob, with hopes of him at least being an energy guy off the bench. Despite Minnesota rolling out a starting lineup without a true PG and bringing 72-year-old Mike Conley off the bench, Finch opted not to bring in Dilly. I genuinely believe it was because Finch watched Reed look like a deer in headlights the night before and opted not to take the risk. Heck, Finch played Bones Hyland for a few minutes.

Reed had a great game today, check the stats and his defense is improving tremendously.
