Coach Deaton has talent albeit young but he is on a different level when it comes to Coaching ability compared to any other coach in the region. Coach Deaton can pull them out of anywhere it seems. Never doubt this man! I know Corbin will be favored and rightfully so in the district against WC but I'm tellin ya, it aint gonna be easy and im a bit worried.

Deaton is a very good coach, but how is he on a "different level" than the other top coaches in the region?

I'm not wanting to turn this into a Deaton is better than the world thread but I don't see any coaches with his coaching ability. We have some extremely fine coaches in this region without question but they are a notch below Coach Deaton in my mind. He can and does get more out of less than any coach I have been around. I'll take that one the distance too.

I've been a Deaton fan since he played at Green County High School, after signing with UK, but I wouldn't put him in a different league than some of the top coaches in the region.

 

He always had good talent at Corbin.

Did the JV team win?...I like that JV coach at Whitley co. Great coach, great person.

I know he has had many good players over the years but I would surely put Steve Wright on the level that Coach Deaton is on, and I agree that is a top level of coaching in the 13th, Coach Phipps at B'ville is not to far behind either.

There is not really that much difference between Whitley and Knox Central's talent levels, then factor in Whitley's home court advantage and the result should not be that surprising.

I agree with you on the talent level of both teams, but all year we have heard that KC could or would make a run at winning the region, so a loss to Whitley would be surprising to many, not me though.

I think there is a better chance of Knox Central not being in the region than of Knox Central winning it.

 

A lot of people's view of KC got a little distorted when they beat Corbin at Knox Central. It was a good win for KC and I don't want to take anything away from them, but that game meant a whole lot more to the Panthers than it did the Redhounds, plus Corbin's play has not been real consistent so far this year.

I agree with this, most teams seem to play much better at home for what ever reason. You know almost all teams around seem to depend alot on under class players, where have all the older basketball players gone?
