? The Rockets’ Red Glare Reaches The Summit Of Log Mountain

Tucked away in the mountains, far from the sphere of influence already crowning the 3A champion, two of the class’s best will collide in the strongest candidate for 3A’s regular season game of the year.

With Belfry dropping down in weight, the Bobcats and Rockets are vying for the title of king of EKY’s 3A realm.

Through twelve combined games, Bell's season opening six point win at Campbellsville is the only contest decided by less than four touchdowns. The Bobcats have been smashing folks ever since.

Rock has been rolling from the get-go with the state's #2 scoring offense tallying at least 42 every week. That happens to also be Bell's average for the season, indicating a shootout is in store. 

They delivered two years ago on Log Mountain, as Rock escaped with a 40-38 victory. 

Last year saw defense and the legs of Kaleb Miller take center stage, with Bell County stalling the Rockets at the launch pad and Miller piling up 273 yards rushing as the Bobcats won in Mt. Vernon, 14-3.

Miller and Rock's Isaiah Jackson rank among the state's leading rushers, while Bell's Blake Burnett is tied for the state lead in picks with 5. Rock's Blake Mullins leads an aggressive pass rush that gets home at a state leading rate. 

This game is dripping with intrigue, district implications, and reasons why Log Mountain is the center of the 3A universe this week.

Gonna be a Great Game.

I’m going with Bell in a tight one.

I expect a low scoring game.

If this were in Rockcastle I would lean the Rockets' way... but being on Log Mountain I will take Bell County by a TD.

Should be a great atmosphere. Bell is very tough at home. Will be a challenge for Rock but going with Rock 35-34. Jackson if healthy can be the difference maker. 

This one will be close.

Past few years the Away team has won. I hope Rock keeps that trend alive tonight but Bell looks to be good as advertised. Bell wins a close one.

I'm with you, give me the Bobcats at home.

Bell has looked the part of a Kroger Field contender so far and they're a senior laden team. Hoping for a great, back and forth game, though.

Somebody is going to get hit in the mouth tonight. I feel confident Bell will respond well if Rock is the aggressor. What I don't know is how the Rockets will handle the sight of their own blood if Bell lands a couple of early haymakers. I don't believe Rock has trailed at any point this season.
