That was a shot! He was due!

The Mets get a leadoff homer vs. the Cubs and led 1-0 in the top of the first.

Cubs get 2 in the bottom of the first on a flyball misplayed by Soto and led the Mets 2-1.

Reds still trail 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 6th. On a positive note the Cubs now led the Mets 5-1after two innings.

The Reds sit trail 4-2 after 8 innings and now the Mets have come back to tie the game at 6 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning in Chicago.

Reds have the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the 9th with 1 out but McLain grounded into a game ending double play. Reds lose 4-2 now they have to face Skenes tomorrow evening at 6:40pm. Now the Cubs need to win after blowing a 5 run led.

The Mets took the lead in the top of the 6th 7-6 but the Cubs have tied it in the bottom of the 6th at 7.

No one is playing nice tonight.  Reds lose and the Mets now lead Chicago 9-7 headed to the home 9th.

Mets come back from trailing 6-1 and win 9-7. We are a game back now. I think tonight was the 5th or 6th loss we have had to the Pirates v

This hurt tonight but hopefully we can bounce back tomorrow. Also the being swept by the A’s a couple of weeks ago hurt as well. Hey Skenes may have a bad outing.

Ouch.......

Couple of questions I am going to toss out there.....

I am not a major coach second guesser so this is coming from more he had to have his reasons so I wonder what they are angle.......

Why not pinch hit for McClain.  I thought it was a possibility in his 3rd AB and thought it was a lock in the 9th inning.  Neither happened.

Lance Mcalister provided a very telling stat.  Flores, the Pirates catcher was starting his first MLB game.  This season across his minor league stops he threw out 28/175 runners. That is 15.9% which is just horrid.  Zero stolen base attempts and zero hit and run attempts, which with a percentage like that can become stolen bases.

7th inning - Benson on

8th inning - Friedl on

9th inning - Ellie on

All three have really strong stolen base potential and all three ended up being forced out at second on double play ground balls.
