For real. This schedule is a bit much for a team coming off a two win season. 

I like this game for Raceland. On paper, it looks like a slam dunk win. But they're also stepping out of their comfort zone a little, travelling three hours away to play a big school from Louisville, and those schools usually have some athletes if nothing else. 

I'd like to think that a team that shares the field with the likes of Trinity, St. X, Male, and Manual would at least be competitive with a 1A school. Being that it's at PRP, I could see the Panthers putting up a fight before Raceland inevitability wears them down with a punishing second half ground assault.

Most local schools have dropped Raceland.  They claim they lose players to Raceland when they can’t beat Raceland. I contend those schools lose players for other reasons. But…….

Some would argue it’s not players at all, and primarily the administration. Some…dare I say.

I will even back it up with the fact that Raceland has zero Greenup County transfers that play football, and three Russell transfers in the last 4 years. AND, Greenup has received 2 transfers from Raceland and Russell has received 1. 
 

My point is this: it’s not about players. Have the discussion as you wish, but I would make a strong argument that it isn’t as much about the programs as it is about administration and adults.

I’ll further go on with this argument by saying since the Raceland/TJ Maynard era ended and the McGlone/Russell era ended and the Raceland/Russell rivalry renewed from 2015-2022, the rivalry between Raceland/Russell was 4-4. 
Greenup hasn’t beaten Raceland since 2010, no argument can be had there.

All three schools make a good amount of money playing each other and the W/L doesn't matter much for any of the teams.  The only argument I have heard from anyone is:  If we lose, we lose players/students.  No other argument has been made.  It's childish, and I'm not talking about the people under 18. 

Still no stat report from PRP/Trinity game. Guess stats are so bad they don't want to enter them. Lol.

I was thinking a lot of the same, PRP is no Trinity or St. Xavier, but by playing those teams PRP has to get a little better, right?  Plus, PRP is a large school, but looking at their roster on the Scoreboard, they have less players than Raceland, if that roster is current (albeit half the team is number 0).  I don't care how many boys you have in the halls, if you don't get them on the field they don't benefit you.  

I'm sure PRP has some players, why I wanted to see their stats from last week, but...........

I like this game for Raceland because it's not a team that they normally play; it creates some playoff feelings with the travel and having to deal with that, and going to a new place that may seem unfamiliar.  Hopefully it's a beneficial game for the Rams heading into Pikeville next week.

Of course, no stats to prove or disprove the following statement. I heard from someone who told me they watched the film from the PRP/Trinity game (grain of salt) that PRP ran a total, total, of 7 varsity offensive snaps. 
 

Is it true? No idea.

I do agree about the benefits. Just seems like the breakaway of both Russell and Greenup aligns with many NEKY also dropping Raceland. Both East and West Carter also dropped the Rams. The arguments I have heard are deeper than just losing players, at least not in the surface. I hope the rivalries are renewed soon, for the benefit of the area. 

Yard stats from Trinity stat report. If you didn't know the score you would think this was like a 7-0 game. Might be the most scoring efficient game in history with Trinity scoring 62. I think some scores were like kickoff or punt return and the defense scoring via turnovers.

I heard several returns for TDs on special teams and one pick-six. 

I feel like PRP had more than seven snaps. However, the clock was running early in the second quarter. Kick return TD, punt return TD and a pick six. Third and fourth quarters were only ten minutes each. 

Nobody was in a hurry....

Trinity's stat report shows a pick-six, a scoop and score, a kick-off return score, and SIX offensive touchdowns on SEVEN snaps. That's efficiency on a level I don't think I've ever seen before.

First ever meeting between these two programs.

As for PRP's first game, Trinity has some unreal statistical accomplishments on the field in additon to all the winning. There are a lot to name. They are both talented and extremely disciplined. One that comes to mind is their 2020 team that allowed under 800 total total yards defensively, including 26 rushing yards all year. They were 10-0 in the COVID season, one of those wins was against the 5A state champion Bowling Green - a team they beat 42-7. I am sure the staff and players at Trinity would take the W regardless of what the stats are, but they have some astronomical achievements on that end. So while that first game is probably not a good sign for PRP, something like that is not unusual coming from Trinity.

Knowing how Coach Salmons is for Raceland, he knows they picked up a big win last week and will keep their foot on the gas pedal. First off, I just can't see Raceland having another night where the passing game struggles like it did espeically with the key players they have back from last season. Second, I wouldn't be surprised to see more of that three back T formation set they ran. I thought Raceland did a nice job and with Stiltner, Marushi, and Arnett, they have three backs that are an excellent fit to run that. They hit the hole hard, they block for each other, they carry out fakes for each other, and run behind a rock solid offensive line.

Sounds like I either misheard, misunderstood, or quite simply misquoted who had the seven snaps!
