Central Hardin heads into the 2025 Season with a new head coach in Lance Gregory, after coach Phillip Stockdale was let go after one season as head coach of the Bruins. Coach Gregory has ties to Hardin County. Gregory came to Graves County in 2009 from John Hardin High School after five years as that school’s defensive coordinator.

There's a new coach, new system and new season ahead of the Central Hardin football program. The Bruins will be stepping away from years of option and wing-T offensive playbooks to implement a spread-style scheme. Gregory said the plan is to play no-huddle and high tempo. This would be the first time this style of offense has been run at Central Hardin since Mark Perry was at the helm for the Bruins in 2013.

Gone are RB Jaxon Engstrand and FB Seth Laudermilt. Retuning at the QB position is Caleb Irwin. Jr Wide received Thomas Maddox can be electric as shown during the Manual scrimmage on Friday night. He appeared to tweak his ankle but should be ready to go on Friday.

Other Key players returning from last season are: RB Gage Gergley, TE Cannon Elmore, 6'5" 325# C/DE Carson Lamothe, OG/DT Zakkary Barzee, and OG/DT Marco Lopez.

With a more friendly schedule this season and a proven coach who knows how to win, whether it was at John Hardin or Graves County, Central Hardin starts the season with a nucleus of its team back from last season and an opportunity to improve on last season's record.

Atherton comes to the Bruin Den Friday night with a team that has some talent. One of their all Americans is Garyon Hobbs 6’1” 210 Louisville Atherton HS, KY. He is an Exceptional athlete at HB/WR/SS/LB and a national recruit already with a 4 star+ rating. Atherton also  picked up transfer Zai’Vion Meads, a DL with multiple D1 offers. This gives them 5 or 6 kids with D1 offers on a team. Atherton should be rated in the top 10 when the season starts and will give Central Hardin problems with their athleticism.

My Prediction for this game: Atherton 36 Central Hardin 14

I mean after Atherton played Boyle to a scoreless tie in the scrimmage I don’t know how you could pick against them in this game.

I think the Atherton defense will give Central Hardin problems especially if Central Hardin plays hurry up and gets some quick 3 and outs putting the Central Hardin defense in a position to get worn out. I think Atherton wins and possibly shuts out Central Hardin.
