Coach Hart doesn't help in anyway with the basketball team. It is Tony, and his coaching staff's team. Coach Hart is a great guy, and a great coach. He coached me for 6 years at Silver Grove and he is a great friend now. Tony does a great job with the kids and i have told him several times that Coach Hart couldn't have picked a better person to take over as head coach here at Silver Grove. Keep up the good work Tony!!:thumb:

Totally agree with SGtrains05. Coach Hart did a remarkable job as head coach at Silver Grove. Coach B has been and will continue to be a suitable replacement for Steve.

 

Me and Steve go way back as we were neighbors once.. As good as person as he was coach! How is Steve's health problems?

He had one of his hips replaced my senior year after the basketball season, that is doing a lot better now. He actually come up to the gym a couple weeks ago and played basketball with us. His other hip is giving him problems now tho so he will have to get that one replaced soon also.

After I read more of this thread I keep thinking to myself who is Deming. I went to NewCath and we never played Demming in anything. Why haven't I heard to much of the school. Whats their history like?

SG's coach is Tony Bagigalupo spelling? sorry GURU :O = he is in his early 20's. played for NCC when they had good teams with Ronny Dawn I think. Looks like he is taking some ques from SG's old coach Steve Hart. I remember 10 yrs ago in his first year at SG when he got tossed down at Augusta. He could get fiery. It looks like Tony can also.

 

 

Tony did Play for the NewCath team that won all A State and 9th region. He was the lone senior starter on that team. His whole life he had been known for hustle and great D. I think you can see it by the way SG gets to the ball, and are always diving on the floor doing whatever they have to do to make a play. He loves basketball more than anything in life.

The Coach recieved 2 technicals and was ejected and he recieved one as he was walking off the floor.

I've only seen Silver Grove play a few games this year and wish that I could see them play more. Corey Pelle is a magician with the ball and the Trains play hard. I truly enjoy watching them play, even though they give us (Brossart) fits.

 

In the last three games that I've seen them play, Coach B received a T at Paris arguing an out of bounds play, a T at Brossart (that became 2 when an assistant joined in) for arguing a no-call when Pelle seeminly lunged into the defender trying to draw a foul, and now was ejected at Deming for God knows what in a game that his team lost by three points.

 

Tony and I are friends, and who am I to criticize another coach, but when it is all said and done, all that arguing with officials is going to get you in the long run is bleeding ulcers and a bad reputation with the officials fraternity that will only make things tougher on you in the future.

 

I sincerely believe and will take to my grave the belief that the 2000 Silver Grove Big Trains had a win over Campbell County taken away from them in the then 38th Distirct Tournament at Bracken County by the officials because Coach Hart was overly outspoken about Bluegrass Officials in the media and didn't use Bluegrass Officials for his home games at Silver Grove. That has been seven years ago but I remember it like it was yesterday and I will never forget it or the comments I heard from the game officials in the hospitality room following the game.

 

My fatherly advise to Coach B would be to relax, coach the team, abide by whatever it is that the officials think they see, and pick your battles wisely. Someone who cries and complains about every call and gets Teed up in every other game has no chance of receiving consideration when the time comes when you really have something to complain about. That and the fact that each time the team loses, the players feel like the officials cost them the game, which turns them into their enemies.

 

Just my thoughts as an outsider looking in.

I have been to a good majority of the Grove's games this year. Corey Pelle gets ridden like a $3500 claimer on a Wednesday at River Downs. You may as well put Perry Outzs on his back at the start of every game. Pelle is one of the 3 quickest players in the 10th, and it is frustrating when he is constantly fouled.

 

A big problem is they play half their games in the 9th and half in the 10th. The games are called entirely different. This thread is going nowhere. Let's all remember something here-The Trains are 14-7, have 34 boys in the school and have played Brossart twice, Campbell, Scott and Bowling Green. Keep it going Trains.
