Correct in a very long and not so well played game.  Highlands is playing the best baseball of any of the teams and is sitting on Robinson still to pitch.  I like them to win the game tonight.  Beechwood, in both regional games have had to overcome a lot of self inflicted mistakes and walks.  Kudos to them for reaching the championship game.  My concern for them based on the two regional games is can they play a clean game and can they muster enough hitting to keep up with Highlands as Highlands is hitting well.

It’s all about the bump.  I have been led to believe the Bluebirds have the best staff in the 9th.  Radio announcers (who are great) seemed to indicate BW would come back with #1 Chase Flaherty on required two days pitch count rest.  This game could be a gem.  Hate missing it, but will listen.  Go Tigers.

I'd love to see everyone out at Thomas More Stadium for the finals tonight! However, if you cannot make it - I will be live broadcasting the game on bluebirdsradio.com . 8:00 first pitch.

Agree with both of you. The Tigers need Chase Flaherty to keep the Birds bats down and somehow scrap together one more run than the Birds. The Birds are a clear favorite tonight - but this is baseball. There is no other sport where the clear favorite loses as often as baseball. 

Harrison Co. defeats Montgomery Co. 5-4 in 9 innings.  Jr. Cooper Slade hung in there for 113 pitches to give the Breds their 23rd 9th Regional crown.  Montgomery Co. intentionally walked Jason Lewis 4 consecutive times (3 of which loaded the bases) and each time he was stranded with no damage.  HC played solid defense as the Indians only had 2 strikeouts while leaving 14(?) runners stranded.

Highlands did a great job in all three games of taking advantage of early inning walks and then a timely hit or two to get the lead and keep it.  

As mentioned in another message, Highlands is on Fire and will represent the 9th Region well at State.  Overall, they had a great regular season as well.

Be on lookout next year for Beechwood.  The team is young, loaded with talent and solid pitching that will blend into the rotation with Arrasmith and Stiles next year.  The team will be pushing hard in all areas of the game to not only end back up in the 9th Region Championship, but win!  
 

Yes, we all know how hard it is to win, who’s hot and who’s not at the time of the tournament, who’s healthy and who’s not along with a little bit of luck too, BUT the youngsters at Beechwood have the taste of defeat from this season and they’ll be back.
