Houston 69 Tennessee 50 (NCAA Elite 8)

Final. The Cougars advance to their 7th Final 4 in school history. The Vols will have to wait to make a first ever Final 4 trip. Interesting they have been 6 previous times without winning.

I watched the 30 for 30 on Phi Slamma Jama a month or two ago.  I would love for Houston to take it down this year.  Heartbreaking they didn't win any of those years 1982-1984.

I have no special dislike of Duke, but they've been there, done that.  If it's not Kentucky, I would love to spread the love and see Houston get their first title.

First thing I thought about when it was obvious the Houston would win (which was before halftime).  How would Phi Slamma Jama compare?

I don't even know how to compare the eras to be honest.  That being said, is anyone on this team even as good as a single one of Hakeem or Drexler, let alone them having both?

Hakeem and Drexler were dominate. That team was so good. They had other good players as well.

Agreed.  But they still lost by virtue of poor free throw shooting and going up against a superior coach.  All that being said, I think PSJ wins.

Very different styles of play. High flying vs solid hard-nosed guys.

No.

Nope. Watched those guys play and they were super talented physically as evidenced by their NBA careers.

It was a different breed and time then for sure. The NBA will never be as good and tough as it was from everyone playing back at that time and through the 90’s.
