Apollo won't be favored over Owensboro this year.  I like Apollo, but Owensboro has a team that if they can find a few pieces should be in the 5A Semifinals at a minimum.

Apollo can shoot for second in the district.  Not a given as Graves County will be solid by district time.  I honestly don't know what Madisonville will have.  I know they lost their stud QB/S.  I think they return their stud RB though.  But if Apollo could get 2nd or 3rd in the district, they have a chance to win a playoff game.  Let's start there!

I wish we can say that but we do not have a QB or a OL. People are going to load the box to stop Evan.

Now on defense I think we can stop people.

As for Apollo, they can win 7 games on that schedule. Jester said it best, the Heritage Hills game will be the test.

I just wouldn’t put a lot of stock on us Purple. It’s going to be harder than you think. One game I’m worried about is Graves Co . We DO NOT PLAYER WELL THERE. It’s a long drive and we didn’t play well at Marshall last year. Graves doesn’t play well at Owensboro.

I’m curious to see where you see the seven wins are @TimeWillTell.  Not saying they don’t.  I’m not familiar with what Apollo has coming back.  They so play OCath, OHS, Graves, Murray, Heritage, Madisonville.  It’s not an easy schedule.  Again, you are probably right and I do hope they challenge for the district.

I can see them winning the district. Let’s say they come in 2nd. That’s 4 district wins plus DC, Murray, Hancock Co.

Owensboro, Catholic and Heritage Hills will be tough but attainable wins for Apollo, but for now we will say no.

I just don't know to be honest, I think Apollo will be a lot better and I really like what they do, but I don't think they nor DC or Catholic will beat us this year.

I do think they will come in second for sure this year. With South Warren out of district 2 I think they will have a shot of winning the playoff game.

If they beat Owensboro, it will be a short experiment on Ford Ave. But, agree they should beat DC, Murray, and Hancock.

I see Apollo starting 0-3 not knowing how good Heritage Hills is.  Then they have O’Boro and Graves which I don’t think they will beat either team.

I can’t say anything… we are going to start out 0-2 at Owensboro and maybe 1-3 if we don’t get a QB or a OL.

Catholic can be 2-3

DC can be 0-4 again….

Doesn’t look good for the city.

I have talked to some local folks. Everyone I have talked to thinks Apollo has a team that can win the district in 5-A. They have a solid QB in Max Johnson who has 4 Div 1 offers, a solid offensive line, a fast receiving corps that can make big plays. Defensively, they will be big on the DL and their DB's are the most experienced position on the field. If they can fill the LB spot from Jamison Brown who graduated, then I believe they can beat us at Owensboro. We have too many question marks and we need to figure out our identity quick. Unfortunately, we play CAL and St X. I think Apollo plays Murray (W) and Heritage Hills (L), but a close loss at Santa Claus IN.

I don’t think Murray should be a guaranteed win they didn’t lose hardly anything from last year’s team.

This game vs the Eagles is going to be one of the best games in WKY.  Can’t wait!

Just my thoughts. I'm an Owensboro parent and fan. I no means trying to say that's an easy W for Apollo. They have not had a winning season since 2022 I believe. They have been down in talent but beating some teams last year I think helped them later in the season. Like my screen handle TIME WILL TELL, but I really think this is a year the Eagles turn the corner some.

My only measuring stick was Murray vs. Owensboro Catholic. Very tough measuring stick. Apollo returns a ton of kids back as well. Should be a great game.

Apollo's biggest problem is that the culture of the entire school is one of mediocrity. They will finish 5-5 at the best. They could suit up the Kansas City Chiefs lineup and the administration and athletic department would bring them down to being an afterthought.

That sounds really really TOXIC.

I really like Apollo coach and the kids on the team. Hopefully they can still win with that toxicity.

Is it the principal or AD? Or both?

Mostly the principal. He's so scared that people will get the impression that athletes get preferential treatment, that he cuts off any opportunity for the student body to do anything to rally behind them in the school building. The AD is close to retirement and is just riding out his days. It's a miserable environment for the students.

I have been saying this since 2011. The culture of a program means so much in the mental aspect of the game. Unfortunately I don’t think Apollo believes they can win. The moment a little doubt creeps in it seems like it’s down hill from there for the Eagles. I see a 5-5 season at best until they prove me wrong… Wish the Eagles the best. Until they play the Devils of course.
