Kansas City 23 Houston 14

The Chiefs advance to their 7th straight conference championship game.

The Texans had their chances but made some mistakes and the Chiefs got a couple of friendly calls on Pat.

This game closed at KC (-9.5). That’s brutal.

Hopefully you got in early on the Chiefs’ cover!

I’ll say it. Why does the nfl officiating still error on the side of Mahomes safety  but no one else? Two egregious penalties that cost Houston. If I was a D coordinator I’d tell y guys to light him up no matter where he is on the field. We saw the flop that wasn’t called. And so no one calls me out, Brady and Co won the AFC championship in KC because of a bogus call on Tom Brady in 2019. Houston had their chances as well, two FGs that didn’t work out.

Man, I would love for Burrow to get half the "protection" calls that Mahomes and most other QB's get. That rule about contact on a QB out of the pocket and running the ball will be changed this off season. Easy way to fix it IMO. If you are a QB running, if you don't slide as soon as you are within 3 yards of a defender, you are free game for a hit.

I agree on the NFL officiating.  I am a fan of all teams but the Chiefs appear to get special treatment and that is turning me off on them and the NFL.

Right, I wish Joe got half of what Patrick gets.

Or that is awesome, depending on what side you are on.

The first one was a miss. From the ref’s angle, he couldn’t get a clear view and assumed helmet to helmet.

The Mahomes slide one was a justifiable penalty, people are just frustrated with how it unfolded (which I get). Whether it should be a penalty is a whole other discussion.

The irony of the “KC gets every call” narrative is the one time Mahomes tried the LeBron style flop out of bounds, the refs didn’t buy it. That’d been called in the NBA. ?

Good argument. Devils Advocate, would Mahomes do the flop thing while inbounds, if he didn’t think he’d get the call?

These type of calls are why I don’t online gambling.

I actually think he was inbounds when they pushed him.

The Chiefs are the most unlikable team in the history of sports and it’s not particularly close.

He was 1000% inbounds.

He was, that’s why I was asking that. He thought he’d get a late hit out of bounds even though he was inbounds by a yard at least. That’s the issue with “protecting QBs” even though most another position player isn’t granted that protection.

Great discussion and 99% of football fans see it.

It has to change. Mahomes manipulates it all the time. Josh Allen is another one. Allen will actually pretend to start a slide and then fake it and keep going. THAT should be a flag.

It’s an easy fix. Once the QB crosses the LOS, there is no protection. Running backs have zero protection, why should a QB get it.
