Thunder make best trade in NBA history?

Featured Replies

I was just looking back at the Shai Gilgeous-Alexander trade between the Clippers and Thunder. The Clippers have the Thunder SGA, five first round draft picks, including four first round pick swaps in exchange for Paul George.

So the Thunder was able to land what is now one of the top players in the NBA in SGA and five first round picks and pick swaps. This has to be one of the best trades in NBA history doesn’t it?

What you are missing is one of those pick swaps became Jalen Williams. I know many do not watch the NBA as much as I do, but Jalen Williams is REALLY good. All defensive-level player averaging 20-5-5.

Nobody knew SGA would become an MVP-caliber player and surpass PG13 in no time, but here we are. The Clippers did have a window there, but it soon closed with Kahwi continually being injured.

Absolutely I completely forgot that Jalen Williams ended up being a guy they drafted with with of those picks.

Subject to change dependent on future potential titles, BUT...

In 1975, The Lakers traded Elmore Smith, Brian Winters, Dave Meyers, Junior Bridgeman and cash to the Milwaukee Bucks for Walt Wesley and some dude named Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and an 80's dynasty.

Vlade for Kobe back in 1996 wasn't a bad trade for the Lakers.  Got a couple of championships with that Kobe guy.

Robert Parish and Kevin McHale for Joe Barely Cares.

Thunder are going to turn those picks into another star via trade and a dynasty.
