Well like I said I doubt it those guys where very confident and for that environment done a very nice job and you have to understand your not going to agree with everything. Im sure that Coach Jones would tell you that he wasn't scared. Plus from what I seen Jones like to nitpick at everything and that can get old but overall game was coached played and called very well and you would have to agree with me on that.

I'll trade the 13th refs for the 12th refs.

I have yet to see Knox, LexCath, Corbin or Clay. Meece's 6th and 7th both beat Corbin (no idea about 8th) and McCreary has a young star in either 6th or 7th.

 

Corbin won both of the 8th grade games in close contests. McCreary has a couple of good big players in 6th and 7th. The one I saw in 6th plays for Whitley City he scored over half their points and had a bunch of blocked shots and rebounds against Meece but he was about all they had. Meece beat them by 20 and it really wasn't that close. The 7th grader is also a post player who played very well in a close loss to Meece. He was really giving Meece trouble until Meece's coached changed his lineup around and moved my son to the 5. He's not nearly as good a player as the kid from McCreary but he's about 175 and was able to keep him off the block. McCreary's 8th grade has a very nice team. If there are any players at all at the other elementary school to go with the big kid on the 6th grade team I'd say their future looks very bright.

These teams are all pretty good. Meece at Somerset is hard to beat. Must be the 6th, their 7th has been beaten three times by the Corbin 7th grade group.

 

That's the 8th grade there Bubba. My son is the center for the 7th grade team they beat Corbin at Somerset and a couple of weeks ago at Corbin. The 6th grade has also beat Corbin twice this year.

I was referring to the McCreary team with the big good players...I know Meece beat Corbin in the 7th grade games this season. Corbin played poorly in both games to be honest with you. It will be interesting to see how the youngsters progress in the future. I have seen all the teams mentioned in this thread play.

I get confused as well. Meece has a fine group of kids in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. I have enjoyed watching them and Corbin play in football and basketball over the last several years. Clay and Knox also have some talent moving thru the ranks.

I've seen Clay in football and they've got some really good kids, I've heard their 8th grade basketball team is really tough. I was impressed with Knox's 7th and 8th grade basketball teams as well. They seem like they've played together for awhile. If you've watched Meece in football and basketball my son is #33 in basketball on the 7th grade team and #77 in football on the 7th grade team the last 2 years, he also played center for the 8th grade team this year. Those games with Corbin were outstanding this past year, I hope they continue to play through high school.

I thought it was a poorly called game. The refs would let the guys play for 12 minutes of the half, then begin to tighten it down. No consistency. Every contested 3 point shot taken by McCreary, there player fell down (at least 8-10 times) but the refs fell for it twice. Called a technical on a very questionable call. Looked to me like the refs were very inexperienced and got shook a little when the intensity turned up.

With that said, I though that McCreary played harder and more physical then Lincoln. Lincoln definately missed young. They are also missing Keaton and his consistent shooting. They lack outside shooting without him. That allows teams to pack the paint and stop Lincoln's offense off the dribble.

McCreary also shot 63% percent in the game.

McCreary is a pretty physical team to be so small. They also have good ball movement and shoot the outside shot very well. There are several players - more than six - that can shoot the outside shock with consistent makes. If Young and Keaton are Lincoln's best players and McCreary could play competitive with them and should the get them into foul trouble of play good defense on them, McCreary could win the game. McCreary had 17 turnovers in this game, 11 of them unforced. Without these turnovers, McCreary would have won this game by atleast 15-17 points.

What kept Young out of the lineup? With Lincoln's limited depth (even with Young and Keaton), does this show that if you can get them in foul trouble they are very beatable?

I've heard more than one person say that!

Jackson did win a championship at UHA... is he a good enough coach to win at Lincoln? For some reason, I think they just blow up and don't win region. When I watched them draw the state seedings on WKYT a few minutes ago and they said the 12th is wide open, but Lincoln, Boyle and McCreary Central should be the favorites.

 

McCreary is a scrappy team and when they're hitting their shots, they're hard to beat.
