You're right.  It should sort itself out in a few weeks.  It's too early for Massey to have enough data to make decent rankings.  I'd say the top 25 are not too far off because most of them were strong teams last year and there will be some carry over.  26-100 is pretty much guess work at this stage.

Love seeing the 13th get some love in the polls. Maddox Huff is a blast to watch from Harlan County, and Jordan Mabe is Mr. Versatile from South Laurel. 

It's hard enough to rank football teams in one class so basketball way harder.

That’s true but as the season progresses there will more games so that should help.  
 

I’d like to see a computer ranking system that factored in things like injuries and sickness.  A win or loss is more meaningful if you’re playing at less than full strength.

Some sort of ranking (RPI at least) should be used to seed the Sweet 16!

We're in agreement here; one has to start somewhere. As with CalPreps for football, I'm baffled by the "magic number" an algorithm spits out this early, but won't jump in a rabbit hole to parse it out.
