A few years back, after Bob Beatty had been at Trinity for a bit, the Shamrocks took a step forward that it took a completely different approach to match. It took a bit, but Male and X and a few others got there. I think we’re seeing something similar with CAL now. They just seem to be operating on a different level than everyone else in 3A.

The young talent on CAL, as a whole, is insane.  Hope they all stay together and can't wait until these kids are all juniors and seniors.  Two other impressive young players to watch are Man Robinson

  • Might end up being the score as well.

  • It’s definitely a bigger step up, no doubt about that. Union County has captured some of my mind and heart though.

It’ll be tough to replace Hodge & Cotton next year, but 85% of what you see on the field for CAL today is back next year & 60% is back for at least 2 more years.  The defensive front 7 has no seniors & only 2 juniors.

So many underclassmen, wow.

For sure.

I was hoping Union County would compete and thought there might have been a chance but CAL is clearly showing the difference in levels of play between the two.

Union County can't throw the ball and they can't even begin to defend the pass.  My advice would be to play some better competition where you see this during the year.  With all that said, this is a great year/team for Union County and they have a lot to be proud of.

UC starting on their 37.

5 WR to the right and it goes for about 15 yards on a quick pass out to Koleby Schroeder.

And names are really tough these days.

2nd and 10 on the 49 for UC.  They did take a shot down the field.

Delay of game on Union, come on man!

Jarren Johnson with another stud run where CAL struggles to bring him down.

5 yard gain for UC, 3rd and 10 at midfield.

Johnson to McPeake for a first down.  Nice catch and run after catch for a first down at the CAL 38.

Penalty on the play, it was another Johnson run to the right.

Facemask on CAL.

1st and 10 on the 24 for Union County, the Braves are in business.
