2024-25 High School Basketball Rules Changes

Featured Replies

One change I do not like is about the touching of the net.

Why make it subjective? The referees have enough to deal with. Make rules cut and dried!

I often wonder if these rules change every few years to try and force schools to purchase new uniforms. It seems like every few years there is one small change that all of a sudden could be a big deal.

I believe the NFHS gave a three-year period to phase in the rule about uniforms (white jerseys with white letters, etc.).  Schools were informed three to four years ago about this rule being implemented.  That’s the only major change I know of with uniforms recently.

I apologize if this has already been talked about this on here but it’s going to be interesting if this will actually be called

? NEW KHSAA ? RULES ? Faking being fouled is defined in Rule 4-49-1 as when a player simulates being fouled or makes theatrical or exaggerated movements when there is no illegal contact.

With the change in various aspects of the game from the player being charged with the Technical, and now it becoming a Team Technical raises the question to if this is now charged to the Head Coach?

I'm pretty sure a team technical is just that, a team technical that only counts against the foul count for that quarter.  It doesn't count towards an individual's personal foul count, nor towards the 2 technical fouls on a player or coach that leads to ejection.

That is correct.
