Saint Xavier (1-0) will host Central (0-1) after defeating Floyd Central (IN) 56-14. Central is coming off a 20-13 loss to Manual.

Last season, St. X beat Central 21-6.

St. X rolled over an inferior Floyd Central (IN) team in their opener and could have named the score. On defense, the St. X defense gave up two touchdowns with one in the opening drive for Floyd Central after having a short field due to long Kickoff return. Floyd Central in the 1st half was able to be only down 28-14 at one point but was all St. X from that point on.

Central against Manual had a 13-3 lead at halftime and had to be feeling good, but Manual imposed their will in the 2nd half outscoring the Yellow Jackets 20-0. Central had 164 rushing yards but only passed the ball 7 times for 54 yards.

Central last beat St. X in 2015 and St. X has reeled off 7 straight wins against the Yellow Jackets. Central will want to run the ball and play tough defense but like the Manual game depth could be a factor in the 2nd half. I see this game being a low scoring game. Can Central get the win or does St. X extend their winning streak over the Yellow Jackets to 8?

You have to give them that.  Have always done so in recent memory. Too bad other schools don't follow their lead.

  • Central sure schedules tough.

Everybody can't schedule tough.  You would run out of good teams.  Besides, someone has to play Danville.

A big reason Central struggled offensively in 2nd half was because Central QB Stephen Smith didn't play because of injury. They were up 13-3 on Manual with him in the game. Not sure of his status for this week.

Central's QB Phillip Baker in 2nd half was 0-2 and had an interception. For the game Central attempted 9 passes total with 7 of them in 1st half.

Stone's come out of this game the last two years looking good from an individual perspective. Central simply hasn't been able to supplement his contributions. Same story every year for the Jackets against these bigger schools.

I don't see X needing a comeback like Manual did last week.
