6A Preseason Rankings?

Featured Replies

I think based on returning % of yards and tackles and multiplying that by last years ending Calpreps ratings shows that Trinity and Frederick Douglass are the top two preseason teams. Those two played each other close last year. I think for Trinity the key will be replacing their top 8 tacklers on defense who graduated so they will be young but talented. Frederick Douglass had two D1 DB's graduate so will be interesting to see their replacements. I'm looking forward to seeing the Frederick Douglass vs. St. X scrimmage to learn some things about both teams.

Douglass hosts Trinity on Aug. 30.  Bryan Station hosts Trinity on Aug. 23.

Great early season 6A matchups.

Catspause has Manual winning District 3 over St. X. If that were to happen would be two years in a row for them. Probably have to go way back the last time that happen. Probably be close game between them this year like last year that had wild last minute finish with Manual scoring in last seconds to win the game.

Until Ryle, McCraken and SK upgrade their regular season schedules and then show they can win those games, the 6A champ will not emerge from either Northern Kentucky or Western Kentucky.

With Trinity graduating all but one of their defensive starters and about half of their guys on offense (the Rocks will play a TON of sophomores ), I think 6A is a toss up between FD, Male and Trinity with St. X, Manual and Bryan Station a step behind.

Trinity returns starters EDGE JC Wilson, CB Sekou Kamara, DL Bailey Vance and DB Sonny Bratcher-Gray...also returns DL Juleone Carney and LBs Will Ford and AJ Hughes who played a lot of snaps...Replacing 3 year starters and impact players like McEnaney, Morrow, Mitchell, Tronzo, et al will be tough, but not as insurmountable as it would seem!

After finally seeing us in action (Frederick Douglass) today, my preseason rankings are:

1. Trinity

2. Male

3. St. X

4. Manual

5. FD

6. Ballard

7. Bryan Station

8. Random NKY team

9. Random WKY team

10. Central Hardin

This season, I don't see any 6A teams outside of Jefferson County, or Fayette Co. making it to the 4th round this season. Douglass will be in every game early on, but we will take our lumps. By the Corbin game, I think everything will be ironed out.

At the same time, we could very well be 9-1 going into the playoffs if the defense plays above average. Either way, our RPI will be top 2 in 6A.

I would put SK at 6.

You guys have a strong chance to go 7-3, but your RPI will probably hurt yall going into the 3rd round.

After reading about some of the first scrimmages, 6A could be wide open. We’ll see how teams adjust during their second scrimmage.
