What is the problem with a coach retiring now? Is it a teaching job issue? From the football side, I see no issues.

At 34 years in KTRS you earn about as much as you do working, potentially a little more. No retirement, state tax, etc. Many people just have had enough fun by then lol. Corbin lost a few really good players and I would imagine at this point he knows in his heart it's time. Personally I really respect that decision. Trust me, you know.

I wasn't questioning why the coach would retire now. I was questioning people who believe him retiring in May caused some great problem for Corbin.

I would think in the winter and long before spring practice would be better than May.  If it's a current assistant, maybe not a lot of transition.  But an outside hire with a lot of assistant turnover would benefit from the extra 3 or 4 months.  Just my opinion of course.

Midland's (Luke) Salmons says he's taken football job at Corbin, Kentucky.
