Can’t help but feel Coach Ian Plank deserves respect and accolades for trying to bring the Newport baseball program back to life.  Not in the know about anything other than I see on KHSAA/Riherds a young team with the courage to show and compete in every scheduled game.  Go Wildcats!  Take pride in facing the challenge.  This season is a big step toward better days to come.

What is their record this year and what big wins do they have?

They are 0-19, but they have scored in 4 straight games.  I'm with @Oldercoach, kudos to the coaches and players for staying with it, showing up, and rebuilding the program!!  Have to start somewhere and they are doing it.  Love to see it!

I had no idea, thanks TDD.

Now that I am informed, I am with both @Oldercoach and you, @The Double Deuce!

No doubt it's a struggle.   They lost back to back games to Covington Latin, 11-1 and 24-6.   No one likes moral victories, but just finishing the season will be one for Newport.

Basketball program is excellent and football has had some good moments in recent years (and moving to Class 1A is probably even better for football). Of course baseball is a different animal but the roster appears to have quite a few kids and they've played a full schedule. Hopefully they'll continue to grow and improve.
