5th Region Off-Season Discussion (2024-2025)

Featured Replies

Haven't seen much of anyone play this season and haven't started looking at rosters for next year but I would think the region favorite is Adair and after that it's wide open.

By district:

17th district will be considerably down from last season. Etown is young but will be likely favorites. John will be much improved. Central will be young but probably still 2nd best team in district, North will have to find scoring to make up for all the graduated losses.

18th District- Might be the most competitive district in the region. Caverna should be pretty good, possibly the favorite. Green played well over the summer and should be improved from last year. Larue is young but will be decent. I don't know much about Hart at the moment.

19th- Bardstown and Bethlehem should be the frontrunners. Washington will struggle with the loss of Weiss. Who knows at this point about Nelson and Thomas Nelson. I would think Stallworth would be able to get a little more out of some of the Thomas Nelson kids.

20th- Should be Adair's to lose, then Taylor and Campbellsville. Unfortunately for Marion, they still have a long way to go to be very competitive in the region.

Well to answer one of those questions, Weis will not return for Washington County. He is heading to prep school according to social media posts from a few days ago.

  • Some of the more recent big news out of the 5th region is the injury to Cochran from Adair. He had a severe leg/ankle injury in AAU a few weeks ago. Should be back before the season but will miss the

  • Ended up a better prognosis than believed. 4-5 month return to sports.

Be on the lookout for some impact additions for a top 5-6 team in the region here in the near future. Could possibly bump them to a top 2 team.

Looks like a 6”6 wing from out of state has joined Green Co.  Looks like win or bust for the Dragons.

Yes and just from what I've heard he's got a 6'3 AAU teammate from Pittsburgh coming with him also.

Have heard 2 more schools added transfers.
5’10 SR guard Lucas Thompson is at Larue from Central Hardin. Averaged 7 ppg last season.

6’0 Sophomore guard Tylan Spalding is at Taylor County from Bardstown. Averaged 2.5 ppg last season.

Green County has officially added two 2026 kids. 6'7 Wing Modibo Kouyate and 6'3 guard Eric James Jr from Pennsylvania according to Prep Hoops on Twitter. Would think they will now jump to the top of the preseason 5th rankings with Adair.

Nothing too different yet. Just under a month away now though from the first scrimmage. I'll put together a list of home scrimmages that I know of in the next few weeks.

2027 guard Tylan Spaulding who had moved to Taylor County over the summer from Bardstown is now enrolled back at Bardstown.

Also another move that was missed from back around when school started is 2026 guard Jalen Gribbins who was a starter for Taylor County last season has enrolled cross town at Campbellsville.

Anyone else from Taylor over at C-ville? Had heard rumblings all summer that there might be a few leaving the Cardinal program to become Eagles.
