Vandy 72 UK 67

Featured Replies

I really thought this was a game where Porter could have seen more playing time then what he got (I have hindsight, which is 20/20). I really feel that he makes smart decisions and puts the ball where it needs to be. Plus his hustle was needed in this on.

   You don't know me or what a good UK basketball team is. I'm sad today...The Cats lost to Vandy. I say let's beat somebody for crying out loud. I'm sick up and fed with these losses. I expect more from UK. Bragg about what they're doing all you want. I see nothing to bragg about.

Don't let the few get to you. Most of us on here are beleivers. The few only voice their opinions after a UK loss.

“It’s tough, because you’ve got to watch for game slippage, slippage when you’re winning,” Smith said at a news conference Friday. “You take certain things for granted. South Carolina is a team that’s struggling. Our personnel, depth, everything was better than theirs and it showed. So you can get a false sense of accomplishment there if you’re not careful, especially with a team like Vanderbilt that’s as talented as any team in the league and is playing as well as anybody.”

“I was surprised,” UK guard Joe Crawford said. “But they’ve got two good guards in (Shan) Foster and (Derrick) Byars who can really fill it up.”

Because Vandy has talent and balance on offense, Smith said, they’re capable of springing an upset, particularly if the Cats aren’t properly prepped to play.

“Some years, there are going to be more distractions than others,” Smith said. “But this group has bought into knowing that in order to be a competitive team night in and night out, you have to be consistent at the defensive end.”

Vandy is not a bad team, problem with UK is.. most of the good to great teams we have seen this year.... L

i'm saying your a basher and you watch the games so when they lose you can come in here and talk down on these cats, That's what I'm saying, I'm about to stay on the Cats Pause site because some people on here make it hard for me to come back, wait for the win streak to stop then hit this thread with a bunch of garbage......I'm sorry to all the very Nice BGP guys, but some people kill me when they have no clue, and probably never even played sports growing up.

First off, I'd knock off the personal attacks.

Second, it's a public board that people pay to post in. As long as they don't violate the rules, they can come into threads and analyze all they want. I don't post in every UK game thread, but when I see something that merits it, I do.

Now, back to the game....

UK is not going beat decent teams when Crawford and Bradley shoot a combined 9-28 from the field. Combine that with Morris only getting 2 shots in the second half. That is a formula for defeat for UK.

During UK's winning streak, their offensive success was predicated on crisp ball movement and taking good shots. In addition, they have taken care of the ball.

Today, you combine poor production from the guards with an opponent that can shoot the ball, you are not looking at a positive outcome.

A deeper look at the stats you see Crawford 4/10 on threes but 0/7 on shots inside the line.

Their basketball IQ or play today left a lot to be desired. Vandy lacks a true 5 man, UK should have worked the ball to Morris and get him to the foul line. That is the most disappointing item that I come away with today is their lack of poise at times and carelessness with the ball. Just throwing the ball away in key situations. 13 of their 29 attempts in the second half were 3 point attempts.

The road begins to get tougher right now. You cannot afford to lose a game at home in this conference, especially to a team that is not a very good road team.

Unfortunately, the loss overshadows some positive production from Perry and Thomas.

Give Vandy credit, they executed, they fought on the boards, and they really moved the ball and made open shots. Ross Neltner has found his niche at Vandy, plays his role well and has teammates that share the ball. It was a game they deserved to win.

Im not worried about the rankings because UK has not really beaten anyone that really makes you take notice, but for the most part they have avoided letdowns during that stretch of wins until today. Give the Dores credit, they executed and UK folded.

Before people pile on OTS, did he throw the ball away on three straight trips to open the half without a shot? Did he just throw the ball away on consecutive trips in a one point game? Maybe his substitution patterns are questionable, but the guys he rolls out there need to execute consistently. Today, they didn't. One thing he has to do is get Crwford some breaks. 38 minutes is far too many minutes for him.

Not a time to feel sorry for yourself. Rough trip Wednesday in Athens.

Tell me when was the last time UK won a big basketball game. It's not been this year. I don't call a win at South Carolina or win against Auburn a big win. You know what a big win is...Tell me when UK got their last one.

Yeah, he lost me as well.

UK is a good team. Good teams play bad every now and again. Unfortunately people have to call for the throat after a tough loss. Would they do that if UK had won this game by one point? I don't think so.

WOW....Did I really just read that?

You tell me what good a player does for your offense when he dribbles the ball to half court, passes, then gets out of the way?

UK needs a big win? 15-4 overall.......

UK didn't defend off the dribble well at all today. UK also didn't react well when Vandy switched defenses late in the game. The four possessions inside the 5:00 mark where they had three turnovers and a bad missed 3 was the difference in the game and Vandy capitalized.

First off, I'd knock off the personal attacks.
