January 21, 200719 yr I got a question for people. Do you think it is easier to take over a program that is already on top, or is it easier to take over a program that is not on top? IMO its harder to stay on top because if a coach comes in and takes over for a team that is on top, then that coach is never going to be able to live up to what the coach did before him no matter how well he does. So for the people who are always critical of Tubby, I dont think they realize that he will ever be able to live up to what Pitino did while here, but then no coach could have following Pitino...So thats another reason actually that if things dont change, then I wouldn't be against a change in the program, because it could end up being best for both parties. For some fans Tubby was never going to be able to live up to Pitino, so he might be better off somewhere else. And UK could end up being off better with another coach because the new coach wouldn't have to follow Pitino and what he left behind... For the record I am still a Tubby supporter but I wouldn't be against a change either if things dont change... For the record I also am a Tubby supporter for now. If things don't change, I won't be.
January 21, 200719 yr So your calling for Tubby's head, right? Just wanting to make that clear. Is it the fix, in your opinion? In all levels of the world when someone isn't meeting expectations changes are often needed. Look at FC's last post. He is a strong Tubby supporter but agrees things need to clear up. Let me try to help you out. Look at what UK was right before Tubby rode his horse into town. Look at what UK is 10 years later. I will let you assess it and figure it out. Now I agree we will never be a 3 peat final 4 team again but we should be a final four team/contender every 2-4 seasons.
January 21, 200719 yr UK's last big win came against UTAH in 1998. That's when they won the national championship. Isn't that all that it comes down to? :thumb:
January 21, 200719 yr Well I can go with that... but at some point you gotta ask how much is enough. Personally I think next year might be his armageddon. I don't think we will land Patterson and Morris is out the door. But lets see how this year goes. We have a lot of tough games left. If Morris keeps playing like he did today, there isn't going to be a team in the NBA that would want him.
January 21, 200719 yr IMO it is easier to take over a program that is not on top. If you take over a program that is not on top yet then there wouldn't be very high expectations for a coach but if you take over a program that is already on top then the fans & admin. will expect the "on top" part to continue. I agree that is why I think Tubby was kind of doomed from the start when he took over here, because some fans would expect him to continue what Pitino started. But even no matter how good he would do for some people it wouldn't matter because it wouldn't have been as good as Pitino, and that would be true. But no coach could have came in right after Pitino and done as good as Pitino had done, it would have been impossible...

January 21, 200719 yr If Morris keeps playing like he did today, there isn't going to be a team in the NBA that would want him. Morris made his mark in the UNC game. Scouts were raving him. All of UK played bad today not just Morris. He still almost have a double double I believe.

You keep failing to say what the program was like 20 years ago! I know that some do not know those days so they do not have a clue!
January 21, 200719 yr If Morris keeps playing like he did today, there isn't going to be a team in the NBA that would want him. You could count the touches that Morris had on one hand in the second half. Maybe that's why you think he didn't play good. Tubby was trying to ride Crawford in this one. It must become obvious that Morris is really good and he needs to get the ball. He (Morris) even does a good job of passing out of the post.

The thing that some people do not want to talk about is Pitino left on a losing note and Tubby comes in a wins it all!
