January 21, 200719 yr Who's called for his head after losing to Vandy in this thread? OK, there hasn't been a lot of "calling for Tubby's head", but I could see it going that route. All we have questioned thus far is how you think this UK team isn't "good". Yes, they haven't beat any ranked teams, but have they played anyone in the top 25 that isn't in the top 10 that they lost to (except for Memphis)? Vandy was their first loss that they were expected to win. It happens is all I'm saying. The sky is not falling. Give them a chance when they play against the top tier teams in the SEC. I think they will play better.
January 21, 200719 yr Funny you showed up to complain about this loss. For some reason you didn't have a single post in the UK/South Carolina thread. UK/Miss State, complained how if they were a top 25 team they would have won by more. UK/Auburn thread not a single post. If you want to come out and bash UK when they lose so be it. But you call yourself a true fan and not ever support them when they win. Seriously! What is there to talk about when Kentucky beats the worst South Carolina team that I can remember. The same goes for Miss State and Auburn. Kentucky did just what's expected against those teams...Nothing to talk about if you ask me.
January 21, 200719 yr What exactly have we done the last few years to be slap happy about? We need positive stuff to blast all the negativity away I agree. But the cloud still rains over Lexington. So how did you feel about the cats from 79-95? You know when we only went to the final four one time! To me I feel about the same then as I do now! I wanted to win it all every year but it just didn't happen and I got over it and started all over the next year!

Yeah and after RP built a dynasty that Tubby had gift wrapped and handed to him its ok... to let it self destruct?
January 21, 200719 yr If Skinpig is a true UK fan, then I'm proud to not call myself a true fan, so as to not be associated with those types. Tough loss for the Cats, but they will move on and be ready to go for the Dogs.
January 21, 200719 yr Yeah and after RP built a dynasty that Tubby had gift wrapped and handed to him its ok... to let it self destruct? So your calling for Tubby's head, right? Just wanting to make that clear. Is it the fix, in your opinion?
January 21, 200719 yr FC: The problem with you being a true fan, and you are a true fan I know that. I also know we rarely agree. But tell me this.. why is it the true fans aren't bothered by 10 loss seasons becoming common. Multiple losses at Rupp. Getting swept by Vandy, rarely havin the talent to get a guy drafted, recruiting misses left and right. Shagari Allenye, Woo? Rarely beating top ranked teams, rarely being ranked. Watching UF, LSU and (UT breathing down our necks) becoming more powerful in the SEC than UK...When UK used to go on the road in the SEC, the UK game was always the sell out.. now its the UF game. Why does this not bother the true fans? Is it genetics? Do you guys just have thicker skin? I know I am bothered by it, and Im sure other people are too. But just instead of ONLY complaining about it. We still just try to support the program. I know I definitely realize things need to improve, and I know I have been a Tubby supporter. However I have also said though that if things dont change like if we dont start becoming more consistent in recruiting, and if we dont make a change in the assistant coaches then maybe UK and Tubby should part ways. Because a change could be a good thing for both parties. I know I have not given Tubby a free pass for last year, and years like last year should NEVER happen. However I know Tubby is a good coach and I think he will get this thing right. However he needs to do it soon, and as I said earlier in the year, I really think this team will end up suprising alot of people and make a great run in the NCAA tournament. More importantly though than anything I realize that Tubby is our coach right now, so IMO I think us as fans should support him and the team even if there are things we dont like. Because he is the coach of the team we love, and right now that is not going to change no matter how much anyone complains. So I think should just support the team through good times and bad and if there needs to be a change then I sure there will be...

Some of you guys can call the South Carolina a BIG win if you want, I won't. I guess Tennessee last year was the last BIG win huh. Honestly, tell me when KY's last BIG win was. I said honestly now. What you define as a BIG win will tell me a lot about you as a fan.
January 21, 200719 yr Author First, excellent info CMIYC....these are the two glaring stats, that stand out. Vandy scouted UK well and contested most of Crawford's shots, all day. Morris has to get more touches and shots. Late second half, Vandy did an excellent job of clogging the post and doubling down low, forcing UK to kick out for perimeter shots, which certainly isn't their strong suit. Vandy did a better job today, forcing UK out of what they do well. Thank you. If those 2 can't shoot 51+ % from the field in a game than obviously Ky will struggle.
January 21, 200719 yr I got a question for people. Do you think it is easier to take over a program that is already on top, or is it easier to take over a program that is not on top? IMO its harder to stay on top because if a coach comes in and takes over for a team that is on top, then that coach is never going to be able to live up to what the coach did before him no matter how well he does. So for the people who are always critical of Tubby, I dont think they realize that he will ever be able to live up to what Pitino did while here, but then no coach could have following Pitino...So thats another reason actually that if things dont change, then I wouldn't be against a change in the program, because it could end up being best for both parties. For some fans Tubby was never going to be able to live up to Pitino, so he might be better off somewhere else. And UK could end up being off better with another coach because the new coach wouldn't have to follow Pitino and what he left behind... For the record I am still a Tubby supporter but I wouldn't be against a change either if things dont change...

What you define as a BIG win will tell me a lot about you as a fan. UK's last big win came against UTAH in 1998. That's when they won the national championship. Isn't that all that it comes down to?

Well I can go with that... but at some point you gotta ask how much is enough. Personally I think next year might be his armageddon. I don't think we will land Patterson and Morris is out the door. But lets see how this year goes. We have a lot of tough games left.
January 21, 200719 yr Yeah and after RP built a dynasty that Tubby had gift wrapped and handed to him its ok... to let it self destruct? Yea thats what I thought you would say! You don't have a clue what its like to be a True UK basketball fan!Remember what Eddie Sutton did to the program! Thats Destruction!

What you define as a BIG win will tell me a lot about you as a fan. UL and IU are the last two big wins for UK...Yeah I know both those teams are not ranked, but those are both still huge rivals of UK and rivalry games are always tough to win. I mean you see every year a top ranked team lose to a team that is not as good as them but since its a rivalry game anything can happen. So winning rivalry games are big wins...However the last big win against a ranked opponent was last year against UT. But we have only had 3 chances against ranked opponents this year, and that was at the beginning of the year when are young players who are a big part of this team was still adapting to the college game. Not to mention 2 of the 3 losses came against 2 of the top 3 teams in the country. It wouldn't be hard to believe that most teams in the country also would have lost those 3 games this year against those ranked teams...
