? I think you guys hear what you want to hear. I think Beechwood is one of the most respected programs in the state and has been for decades.

The Beechwood lack of respect is a multi year thing, not just this year. I am not saying there is a no respect for Beechwood. I do think there is more respect given to LCA, and to their credit they have earned much of that with the schedule they have played and the wins they have posted.

However, for five years LCA has been talked about like no one in 2A has a chance against them. They have been ranked number one in the polls most of those years. Two years ago they were ranked number 1 in the polls over top of an undefeated Beechwood who just beat them the year before in the title game. How does that happen? That is disrespectful to Beechwood. That is where Beechwood fans are coming from. 

And here we sit again in 2023 with one loss LCA looked at as the clear favorite to win it all over undefeated Owensboro Catholic and one loss Beechwood and Mayfield. LCA might finally get it done this year but pardon us Beechwood fans with three 2A rings on our fingers (two of them over LCA) if we don't feel a little slighted.

Totally understandable and legit thought process.

I didn’t say you! There are some people who feel that way! I still stand by my comment. ??
 

When I played in the early 90’s during our dominance all we heard was if Mayfield and Danville was in A we wouldn’t have won all of those titles.   Maybe or maybe not but we will never know. Beechwood had a few  damn good teams during that time who could play with anyone. We  beat some great teams in the finals. We beat 3A power Cov Cath who won state a few times the same year. 

LCA, Mayfield and OC probably is better than Beechwood this year but until someone knocks them off they are still the team to beat. 

From my perspective as an OC fan here in the western side of state we will always view Mayfield as a favorite. They are the premier “smaller” school and even this year if you are at an OC game people wonder about what Mayfield is doing. You will also hear a lot about LCA, probably because that game last year was so close, and even less about Beechwood. I just don’t think we have had any reason to think about Beechwood and they get brushed aside. Not being disrespectful it’s just hasn’t been a team we have had to face.

As a fan of football in general, I think Beechwood and OC are both overlooked on here. I think all 4 teams are quality teams and anyone can beat the other, but mayfield and LCA get the majority of the recognition. Mayfield and Beechwood deserves to because they have the titles to show for it.   Just my opinion. 

And another thing, no one is discussing Somerset/ Shelby Valley or the OCath/ green county game.

I think it will be OCath vs Somerset and LCA vs Beechwood.

No one in the state will beat LCA they're alot better than they were last season when mayfield beat them. They're also the only team that  has given Boyle Co a game this season. I believe LCA beats Mayfield by 2-3 Touchdowns

I think O Cath will win by 3 TD's or more.

Somerset and Shelby Valley is interesting. Somerset is the favorite but I think it is a one score game either way.

I have a question for OC fans. I think I have already asked this before but I don’t remember but  is Atwell the QB from OC related to Travis Atwell the QB from Hancock County in the late 90’s?
