15 hours later and no responses, no opinions. Must be everyone agrees or it’s so far off they don’t know where to start. Lol

Very balanced region this year.  DCA has been building, and have some big time size/athletes for this region, so hard to argue with them being @ 1.  As far as players list goes, this a good list (with probably 5 others that could easily be in there).

Some notable players that come to mind that could easily be a top 10 players in this region this season:

• Dumpford (if he plays) and Seth Farmer from Wayne Co. 
• Zach Hutchinson- Southwestern 
• Ethan Warren- Somerset Christian 
• Titus Boyd and other 7 footer-DCA 
• Mari Brown, Guy Turner and Hager- Boyle Co
• Ashton Drakeford- Mercer Co.

Point being, there are some solid players in this region for the year.  (I'm sure I missed some)

Davis, Knuckles, and Bishop (if healthy) from Lincoln

Jones from East.

Thoughts...

Very odd not seeing at least one of the Big Three ; Lincoln, West Jess , or Pulaski in the top 5.  Still wouldn't count any of them out at the end.

Dumford will make a massive difference for Wayne , and Mari Brown will do the same for Boyle.  Both of those teams are gonna be very difficult to beat late in the year.

Big props to Coach Young for developing a couple of off the radar players two short years ago, into tops in the region. This very well may be Somerset's year!

I think DCA may be number 1 or 2 on paper, but I don't think they deserve that kind of ranking. They did have some real quality wins last year, but lost momentum heading into tournament time.

It is hard for me to give the nod to a team who has yet to prove really anything. They have not made a regional tournament, and have not even advanced out of the 4/5 play-in game in the 45th district tourney. I personally feel DCA has a lot to prove this year, maybe more than any team in the region. Having said that, they will have plenty of opportunities as they play arguably the toughest schedule in the 12th region.

Mercer may be somewhat of a Darkhorse, especially if Barnes is eligible.

The 45th is just stacked again. I agree DCA has to prove they belong and get out of that tough district and anything can happen in region. 
 

Somerset has two guys that can get you 25 each every night but don’t know if they have enough help otherwise. 
 

Everything I’ve heard Barnes has moved to Mercer with his dad and will be eligible if not already. Been enrolled in school since opening day. 
 

Rock, Southwestern, Pulaski all have young talent so can’t count any out. 

Interested to see what the post-McKinney run at Danville looks like and what type of team Tryston Ford builds/creates.

I don't think Bishop is playing, but could be wrong.  Radford from East is also a talented guard.

I was about to say Pulaski Co. having 3 teams in the top 10 is strong.  The county has a lot of talent.  Somerset returns 4 guards who started last year.  45th and 47th districts are strong.  Barnes being eligible would be a game changer (I haven't heard either way, but ruling across the state are coming down the pipeline).

They looked very young this summer, but Coach Ford will do a good job with them.  He knows ball.

I know that Dumpford played summer ball and I've heard from some close to the program that he is playing. 

Wayne also has some young upcoming talent that could possibly contribute by season's end that could help give some tired legs some rest.

He's a no doubt top 10 in this region from what I seen this summer.  Not sure who I would remove, but he is athletic and jump shot had improved.

On paper, DCA and Boyle look strong, but they both looked strong last year and neither performed at a level I expected before the season. They both lacked discipline and chemistry. Whether it will be different this year remains to be seen. DCA’s addition of Fugate is a big deal for them, and I believe their newest foreign player addition will be eligible around district tournament time. I’ve heard he may be their best player once eligible. They have serious depth issues, more so than any other top 5 team.

On the other hand, Somerset was my biggest overachiever last year. They greatly improved over the course of the year. That was a great job by Coach Young developing his team. I’d put Wayne right behind them in that I didn’t expect much of anything from them. Hats off to Coach Woods on making adjustments to play a style that suited his roster and gave them the best chance to win. I don’t recall previous Wayne teams playing such a methodical, disciplined style. Also, I’m not familiar with the Dumpford kid so cannot comment on his impact (if he plays).

I think Mercer is the most intriguing team. They have lots of size and are very deep. They have a top 5 player in Ellis. I think they now have one of the top coaches in the region. If they can figure out the PG position they can be as good as any team in the region. 

I also think Rockcastle isn’t quite at the level of those 5 teams but is a notch above the rest. They have size across the board and some good pieces.
