The question is will UK beat one of the "heavyweights."

 

The answer is No, since UK isn't a heavyweight they won't beat a heavy weight.

 

I don't consider Arkansas a heavyweight, they pull off one upset (Auburn) and are in the SEC title game. They got killed by the other good teams they played.

 

Tennessee used to be a heavyweight but has slipped lately.

I think there is no chance that UK wins 9 games next season.

I think they will win 7 or 8 games next year with them beating UT and maybe Florida or LSU.

I wouldn't exactly call Arkansas a heavyweight....They've done very little since joining the SEC with exception to this year....I would always think UK would have a chance against them, similar to how I feel when playing S.Carolina....Georgia would be considered more of a heavyweight then Ark., imo....

6 wins will be acceptable although a bit disappointing.

7 wins will indicate UK is on the right track.

8 wins will be a great accomplishment.

I agree with this post, accept that if Kragthorpe goes undefeated (fingers crossed), he just may get it.

I think UK has a decent chance of beatin UL at home next year. We have all our offensive weapons back and the line should be better. Also our defense has no where to go, but up. And its yet to be seen if Kragthorpe in the offensive genious at that level that Bobby Petrino was.

I can see them taking out Arkansas, maybe even UT, or UGA....I do not feel they can beat Louisville. While some think that Louisville will struggle in their first two games, UK will not have faced THIS offense before. That can pose some issues for a new DC, etc...

Kentucky will not beat Georgia on a regular basis right now. Georgia will be on the road so that will be a hard game to win. Flordia will be much more athletic than the CATS and UK would need some breaks to get the Gators even if it is at home. LSU is still quite a bit better than UK even with Russell bolting for the pros. UT is a winnable game, but UKs defense will have to play like they did at the end of the year.

All in all UK could have a great season, but it will have a hard time matching this years win total. They have got to beat USC if they hope to make a bowl, because UG, UF, & UT are not definte wins no matter what anyone says. If they win the games they should and can get one of the three previosly mentioned then they will have had a faboulous season in my eyes.

That's a good summation of things that have to go right.

If the program is taking the steps forward as it appears, they should indeed beat someone that is not expected. I do think they will knock of someone(SC, UofL, Ga or UT are the most likely) to get the 6th win which is the most important thing. Seven wins would again be a real bonus. I will not be greedy-give me six.
