Hard loss for Scott. The first three quarters they played great. They were up by 10 in the beginning of the fourth quarter. BB hit 3 straight three pointers to bring it within one point very quickly. The final score was +12 for Brossart, but most of the twelve came from Scott's desperation fouling at the end. Brossart took advantage of this and converted well. It was a great game. I look forward to the rematch...

 

Congrats to Bishop Brossart!

Instead of complaining about the refs why don't we give the teams and coaches some credit. This was a great high school basketball game. Both teams played extremely hard. Scotts lack of depth hurt them in the 4th quarter and Brossart kids kept fighting and found a way to win. They continually fed the big man and Uebel hit huge shots as he typically does. This was a hard fought, clean game. Looked to me like both teams and coaches have tons of respect for one another. They should meet again in February. As fans, lets hope that game is as exciting as this one was.

Uebel is a stud and Brossart earned the win. Scott needs to learn how to hit foul shots and finish ball games.Also a little surprised that Scott didn't trap and press like they usually do, maybe they are saving something for tourney time. What was wrong with Mutsch? Saw him in street close. Brossart got great assistance from the men in stripes tonite. Cooper was allowed to Shove people around and the foul ratio in the the second half was 11-4. It got ridicoulos. Brossart desevred the win don't get me wrong, but the refs didn't hurt them. Scott self destructed. Can't wait for the rematch.

It was a well played game by both teams and a fun game to watch. Sharp is GOOD. Brossart really missed Nathan Mutsch last night and will need him back for tourney time (All "A", District and Region).:thumb:

Scott won the jv game... sorry, I can't remember the score but it seemed by a good amount.

Scott won the JV game 53-27.

 

Brossart led 23-20 with a minute and a half to go in the first half when they stopped scoring, allowing Scott to go on a 27-0 run and put the game out of reach. Brossart didn't score again until the final minute and a half remained in the game.

 

Coach Kevin Gray's team played a great game.

 

The Mustangs are going to have to find a fix for these prolonged dry spells, one of which cost them a win in the finals of the JV MCIT to Mason County.

Haven't had a chance to comment on what sounded like a whale of a HS basketball game. Hat's off to the Mustangs for staying focused in the 4th quarter and trusting their "D" to trigger their offense. GREAT games by Scott's Nathan Sharp, as he sounded like he was everywhere; and Brossart's Jimmy Uebel whose threes and defense not only kept the Mustangs in the game, but keyed their comeback as well!! Jimmy continues to be the heart & soul of this Mustangs' team, and always battles to the end!!

 

Since I'm seldom right in any of my predictions, I felt compelled to reprint part of my post from the prediction thread.

 

 

I've got a feeling this game will come down to whose role players have the better games?? Guessing Cooper & Uebel will get their points for the Mustangs, and Sharp & Quigley will get theirs for Scott. Scott will be tested stopping the inside game of Brossart, and BB will have to overcome Scott's press and pressure "D" to even get the ball inside, and then have to deal with the Eagles in transition!! If those neutralize each other like they might, it may come down to who else steps up from last year's JV ranks, where BB had the upper hand in the one game they played, but that's probably meaningless. Ryan Smith could knock down some threes, Miller or Felts could contribute more than normal for the Eagles; but I think BB might have more options with Kidney able to score when he needs to, many seem to be forgetting their other twin tower, Mutsch; and they also offer Kramer, Lloyd, Niemeyer and Rebholtz, all who can score when needed.

 

This along with Tiger1's fear that Scott's lack of depth might come to haunt them in the 4th quarter were pretty much right on the money. Uebel and Cooper got theirs, and Sharp was huge for Scott. BB did a pretty good job on Quigley, especially in the 2nd half; but it was the "other" players that made the difference in the game IMO. Miller had a very big game for Scott and got significant help from Ryne Smith, who blocked a couple of Cooper's shots. For Brossart, Kidney had a big defensive game especially late and ran the team quite well. Kramer, Lloyd and Rebholtz all played hard defense and contributed some points when needed late. Bryan Niemeyer, despite getting off to a slow start, was huge down the stretch with 7 points in the 4th quarter, including a key 3, a couple timely stickbacks, a steal and a block or two, and a team leading 12 boards for the game. Disappointing Nate Mutsch didn't get to play, as I'm sure he was going nuts on the bench not being able to help his buddies in a game like this!!

 

Congrats to both team's on a awesome game, and I've got a feeling they may meet again down the road, with a little more on the line next time!!

Miller was thought to be part of Scott's big 3 this year, and has played up to that. I feel that Scott maybe should try bringing a couple more players of the bench in the next couple of weeks to try to get some experience, because with how fast they play, these players need a break and god forbid one of the starters get hurt, they right now have viturally no minutes from there bench and a lot of the players would be lost out there. I agree you play with what you have, but you need to get some more minutes out of your bench at the end of quarters etc... Carr has done a fine job with this years team, they are doing a lot better than what a lot of people, including myself, thought they would.
