Week 2 Results: JC lost to Pikeville 14-21 | Belfry lost to GRC 27-53

Series History: Belfry leads 29-10 all-time 

Rub some dirt on it: Both must pick themselves up after being sent to the canvas and tasting their own blood in Week 2. An injury depleted Johnson Central suffered a one punch knockdown in the fourth quarter to lose a grueling battle at Pikeville. Belfry was assaulted with a barrage by GRC, who scored 31 unanswered points to blast the Pirates out of the water. The Pirates put the ball on the turf a few times to aid in their own demise. Ball security is always a top priority when these two get together. A series that was once owned by Belfry has seen Johnson Central take command in recent years, with the last five going JC's way. A minimum of three scores have decided the previous four meetings. 

After watching Johnson Central last night and seeing a little of Belfry in Week 1, the Pirates undersized defensive front may be in over its head. 

Belfry appears to have the speed to attack the perimeter this year and even put the ball in the air. I can see them putting some points on the board if they protect the football. Keeping JC off the field may be another story.

If Young is healthy for Belfry and both backs are back for JC this might be a great game.

Seems strange for this not to be the last week of the regular season. Many times in the season finale between these two you never really knew who would play, who would sit, etc. This year brings a host of other questions - specifically, are either of these teams viable contenders to make a deep postseason run? I think I have an answer but we may know more after tonight.
