Covington Catholic 37 Ryle 22

We will get our answer in a couple weeks and it won’t be pretty for SK. As to the game, CWB has an accurate assessment. CovCath is very good and Ryle will continue to improve. Best wishes to CC as they go after a 4A title.

I read where Harney played DB last night.  Is that true, hadn't heard he was cleared to play.

After the KHSAA overturned his eligibility approval, the Harney family appealed the KHSAA's ruling and he was recently cleared to play.

And we don't need any further discussion of Harney's transfer beyond that.

Ben Reeves at DT for Cov Cath with 4 solo tackles, 1 assisted tackle and a forced fumble. I know at least two of those solo tackles were sacks, and I believe he actually had 3 sacks last night. He played a heck of a game last night, even if he's it wasn't a big "numbers" game last night. Reeves was in Ryle's backfield on probably a third of Ryle's offensive plays.

Would Simon Kenton fare any better against Cov Cath?

We will find soon!

Loved seeing Pitzer throw the ball vertical  last night. He was still a little hesitant on a lot of the throws but don’t know if that was because the receivers weren’t open or he didn’t trust himself to get it there. Of course it was first game of the year but all in all he had a good game. It’s was nice not to see the QB draws 60% of the plays like the last 3 years. Pitzer got the weapons this year so hopefully he has a big year.

Also, I was sitting next to the roughly 15 members of the Owen Leen’s family, but specifically  I was sitting next to his grandmother, she is intense, I liked it. Glad to see Owen have a big game.

I saw the opening drive and TD for CovCath. Two things: No one even touched Rodriguez coming off the line and there was no safety at all. Wouldn’t a team consider bumping him if he was lined up at TE? I don’t know the true intracicies(?) of play calling, just something that stood out big time.
