Thank you for the kind words. We tried to be patient and make sure we had the right guys in place. Finally completed our staff on 5/31.  I've made a living off of hitching my wagon to awful good

Is that an old school helmet or just a new design, @ChiefSmoke? Looks sharp either way.

I agree, it is a good looking helmet, but it is also a throwback to the early 70's and late 60"s when Anderson wore red helmets,  played some good football, and was lead by all stater, Bob Ware. It is a gesture to our alumni that this is still their program, and they are wanted and welcome. The current players are excited about the new helmets as well.

That picture comes from a Youtube video, Boyle vs. Anderson, 1970. Lee Glasscock played for my Dad at Boyle and had some old 16 mm from 1969 through 1973. We had that video digitized. Lee was a senior on the 1969 Boyle team and went on to a successful coaching career at Washington County. He is a good friend. I try to talk to him and another of his teammates, Monty Wilkerson, a couple times a week. Those guys were my heroes when I was 4 years old and they still are today.

The idea for our 2023 helmets come from this video:

I know the last few years have been tough, but my picture of Bearcat Football goes back over 5 decades. Anderson has had some awful good teams when you take a more long term view. I got to see them close up several times, going back to 1970 (don't know if I was at the 1969 game... am sure I was at the 1971 Boyle-Anderson game). When I saw them in  1986, 1987, 2013, 2015, and 2018... they were really good.

Having said all of that though..... the present is all we can control. We can't live off past success or let past struggles hold us back or be an excuse.

Bottom line.... we will focus on getting better one rep, one day at a time. The results will follow. This situation is no tougher than it was when we got started at Mason and Mercer.  We ended up playing some pretty good football before it was all said and done.

I am crazy about our kids, coaches, administration, and community. We'll work our tails off and let the chips fall where they may!

I know I’ll be following Anderson Co. games this year for sure.

Coach, I love the fact that you are hiring family men with experience to be on your staff.  Everyone at Anderson has to be excited about this season and the future.

I've made a living off of hitching my wagon to awful good people. It makes all the difference.

And, especially in regards to hiring coaches... always want men that would be strong role models for my sons.

Of course we will work to be the best we can be and win games / championships. But, absolutely, the parents in Anderson County should want their kids around these men. They are an exceptional group, especially in regards to character!

Good first day of mini camp. Thank you to the Dad’s who marked the practice field.

Thank you to Mothers of Brothers  & the families for feeding our guys TWICE today. That was very generous and meant a lot to our guys.

Red helmets looked great and the kids love them!
