People know where the shooter lives, as they've been outside his house protesting. He'll never live there peacefully again, and he shouldn't.

I agree HE shouldn't, but if he ends up put away I feel for family members left behind there. They don't deserve to live in a daily hell because of his actions.

Stay out of Missouri.

If he does walk I agree with staying out of Missouri.

If he goes to prison there won’t be any need to protest at his house.

The man has been charged with “armed assault,” which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.

How old is the shooter?   Does he live alone?

85, and yes.

Was it daylight hours?   I haven’t seen anyone actually post a link to any news articles.

I agree with you. I wish the rest of our society did too in situations like this, but if he lives alone it’s a non-factor.

Finally read a news article today that gave some details but also left out others.  Looks like we will hear more when it goes to trial, if the Lester suspect lives that long.

What details are you looking for?

The prosecutor stated there was a racial factor, the article mentioned statements made by both parties but none of those statements involved race.

So something is being left out.  Which I don't have a problem with.   I don't think the public needs to know everything as soon as possible.  That just complicates the trial process further.

The race factor is obvious. 85 year old white man, 16 year old black kid. Will the shooter ever admit any kind of racial bias? Not with a semi-competent lawyer.

So if that's the only race factor.  Your saying anyone who shoots someone of another race is racist, regardless of circumstances.  And to that.  The prosecutor wouldn't have charged him if the person he shot at his door had been white?

There's more, that's not being released.

I'm just pointing out the obvious. If both parties were black, there's no race factor. If both parties are white, there's no race factor. I didn't say he was a racist, there's no way to tell that, yet.

In any case where the parties are not the same race, it is a factor. That is the country we live in.

I'm sad because a young life was lost needlessly.  I'm hoping that the law is sufficient to make sure justice is served, but that won't bring him back.
