Final the Valkyries win their 3rd straight championship. They finish the season at 34-3 and were undefeated against Kentucky teams and yet according to RPI they were the y2nd best team in their region. Go figure. Congrats to Sacred Heart a heck of team!

The 2023 Mingua Beef Jerky Girls’ Basketball Sweet 16® concluded inside Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center in Lexington on Saturday.

Look for a 4peat or 5peat as they are young, only 1 Sr. that was 4th best in scoring. Tons of JR's, Soph's and throw in a few Frosh also.

That one Senior was/has been their defensive leader for four years.

Triniti Ralston doesn’t get the credit she deserves. Best defensive player in the state and totally shut down McCracken last night with her D on Johnson. They will miss her BUT you are correct that they are primed for a long run.

I watched some of the finals and I don't know who was who but I know the talent on the Sacred Heart team was far superior to any other teams I watched this year.

This Sacred Heart team could beat some small division college teams. A majority of the team will be D1 or D2 players in the future. Sophomore Johnson could start on most D1 teams right now. Just an old man’s opinion but they sure impressed the heck out of me during the tournament.

Well, they were going to repeat regardless but that seals it. Everyone else is playing for a runner-up trophy. For the next 2 years for sure. I don’t know if any team in KHSAA girls basketball history has had a roster with four future D1 players.

The 2003-2007 Lex Catholic team had a very strong roster with the following commits:

Notre Dame, Evansville, Kentucky, and NKU
