Why so?

I know that Russell and Ashland play home and home but I think it is the exception rather than the rule isn't it? I know that Rose Hill plays West and Lawrence home and home but it is a situation they would rather not have.

Coach Ward always played those two rivals twice. Tremendous gate for both schools. Some head scratching decisions for GC basketball the past few years.:confused:

I wasn't aware of that. I didn't think many schools played out of district teams twice. It does make alot of since financially.

I think it is rediculous that Greenup drop Home and Home with Boyd and Ashland. If they are a coaching change I think you will see These games picked back up. The administration should never let this happen. Its just taking money away from all the athletic programs. I think you will see Raceland on the schedule again also. If you made changes like that in the business world they would fire you on the spot. Makes no scense how someone let this happen. Greenup should never complain that the athletic fund has no money with stupid moves like that. If They want to make money throw Ashland and Boyd back on the schedule twice. Raceland twice. Wheelersburg, Ironton, Portsmouth and Huntington High. Speaking of Huntington High, Greenup signs a home and home with them goes to huntington and plays giving them a big gate and when its time for huntington( the #1 team in WV.)to come to Greenup last year Coach Hicks cancels. That money should come out of his paycheck. Why schedule teams from the 15th region that bring 25 fans when you could schedule local teams and make a good gate. I would rather Be 15-12 and have plaenty of money in the athletic budget than 18-9 and beg for 2 pair of shoes. go figure.

The reason GCHS's basketball schedule does not have Raceland, Ashland (twice), BC (twice) and the other local teams, could be because the Athletics Director in collusion with the Principal and Superintendent made the changes.

All those games have different reasons why they were dropped, many were not based on a basketball or financial stand point.

Back to the poll, as usual the Cubster has pretty much got it right.

Please explain further why a basketball game would be dropped if it had nothing to do with basketball or money......I can see cancellation, due to weather, transportation, etc. but to drop teams, especially if they are in your district, ie. Raceland, it is hard to follow the logic......enlighten me please, Thanx.

I said "many" not all. For one, Wheelersburg forgot to leave a slot open for Greenup to renew the contract. Wheelersburg is a really good team this year.

I'm pretty sure that GC's Super has more important things to do than worry about the B-ball schedule. I also believe that Coach Hicks has always done most of his scheduling...Betsy Layne (three times), Jackson City (last yr.), Bracken Co, Augusta (twice), Harlan, Corbin Tourney (twice), that's just off the top of my head of over the last couple of years. Oh yeah...dropping out of the EKC when drawing Russell the first round game last year.

 

Yeah... the admin. is scheduling those games.

Looks good to me. Russell is still deserving of the number one spot, they played well in a nice win over Ashland. Rose Hill is the only other team in the region you could make an argument for as to being in the 1 spot. If they beat Ashland in a week or so, then Boyd, no doubt they deserve the nod over Russell. Elliot seems to me to be the clear 3 spot, they have a couple huge games coming up that should clear the air about them quite a bit. Ashland and Boyd may as well be a coin flip, Ashland has the last head to head win between the two, but Boyd beat Russell, something Ashland wasnt able to do. I like it when our region is this competitive, it keeps things fun on here and should make for a great district and regional tournament.
