Nobody other than Lincoln Co. in the 45th district has done a thing to warrant anymore respect than the rest of the regional teams...

  • All good choices. I'm with you, I think Davis should probably get the nod. Kelley is a good choice; I still think West Jessamine sometimes gets overlooked in the region because they weren't traditiona

Davis, Jackson, McKinney and Young in that order.

10. No gambling, bookmaking or point spread comments are allowed in any of the high school forums. Figures of speech that use gambling terms may not be used in any of the high school forums (i.e. bet, over/under, spread, parlay, chips, line, odds, wager). All gambling comments are permitted in the non-high school forums as long as they do not involve any high school sports, students, or student-athletes.

So my post will argue both for and against both sides. As far as strength of districts (using Sevens’ most recent ranking, which I think was pretty accurate), 45th is definitely the strongest. Here they are in order:

45th - has the #1, 4, 7 & 11 teams.

47th - has 3, 6, 10 & 14.

48th - has 5, 9, 12 & 17.

46th - has 2, 13, 15 & 16.

But this thread was originally about coach of the year for the region. I believe Young, Davis, Kelley & Fraley all deserve consideration, and probably Jackson as well. That’s a combination of blue bloods and newer guys but all have merit. It doesn’t matter which district they play in determining that honor.

The top names that come to mind for me are... Wade Davis: McCreary Central, Jeff Jackson: Lincoln County, John Fraley: Pulaski County, Denny Webb: Boyle County, Ryan Young: Somerset, Rodney Woods: Wayne County, Damon Kelley: West Jessamine.

I believe the following 8 teams can win the 12th region this year... in no specific order.

Boyle, DCA, Somerset, Danville, West Jessamine, McCreary Central, Lincoln County and Pulaski County.

45th district making a little noise tonight.

I believe that list of coaches is a little generous. Who has over achieved relative to their talent OR who was predicted to be at the top and has lived up to that expectation?

As far as that list of teams, I think those teams could all beat each other on a given night but sone of those are  unlikely to be able to string together enough quality wins to win region.

Don’t forget West. Arguably the best team in the region but no worse than second.

Totally agree with you on both accounts.

Danville was lights out.  Whitaker didn't play for Somerset, and Godby played a half (had 26 Pts. @ half...It was 4 pt game @ half).  Not many teams are going to win without their two best players and 40 points of production missing.  Danville can definitely put a scare into Lincoln Co (if they get there) if they shoot the 3 like they did last night.

I would like to see a better angle of the block/charge call that decided the Boyle/PC game.  Looked really close...
