Until I heard it on air last night, I didn't realize how bad it was.  Don't they teach those linemen anything at Alabama?

I would imagine since Alabama has had such overwhelming talent that some player shortcomings don't manifest in college.

Do you think that a big talent at a school with the rest of the line being average is a better choice for the NFL?

Hard to say but if you are a NFL talent with average players around you, you have to dominate everyone you face with no help.  If you are on a team of world beaters and your world beater team goes up against a NFL talent it is double team time.  It all requires careful study of any player you are thinking about drafting.

This is an interesting perspective.  I agree.  I wonder if such thinking is on the radar of many of the NFL coaching staffs.  It seems some teams get it when drafting linemen.  The Bengals, not so much, for the last few years.

So much goes into the process you would think everything is considered. 

Either way, if I was in charge of the Bengals I would get some outside help for any areas they have failed in the draft recently.

I wonder if the coach/teacher/mentor of a position is the same person as the one who is evaluating the talent.  You would think they would be the same person, but maybe not.

The head coach and coordinator have to be evaluating everyone in addition to everything else that goes on.  At some point, it is systemic.

That could be part of the problem.  In a "system", I assume that points are assigned for various categories in the evaluation.  Then, you total up the points and that becomes your draft board for that position.  Maybe categories are missed by certain coaching staffs or "gut feel" is not being put into the mix.  Otherwise, why do some teams consistently have better offensive lines than others?

We are good in most areas.  I would give the OL a lot of attention for 2023 and hope for the best.  If we are still suffering, something has to change.

Can you image Burrow consistently with time to throw?  Unstoppable.  Even better than now.  Bengals wouldn't need a punter!

Special shout out to Marvin Lewis for patrolling the Ravens sideline down the stretch.  3+ minutes and 2 timeouts left and the best you can do is a hail mary with 1 timeout left in your pocket?   Terrible clock management.

One thing I have decided I can live without in football, post turnover, the entire defensive team running to the endzone for the "photo-op".  If, in baseball, the whole team emptied the bench for a 2 run homer in the top of the 5th, everyone would complain about how it slows the game down and makes baseball unwatchable.   You got you pick, go to the sideline and move the game along.

We can blame that on the NFL when they relaxed the celebration rules.  They allow using the football as a prop, celebrating on the ground and celebrating with teammates. Off limits celebrations include those that are offensive, are prolonged and delay the game and those that are directed at opponents.  The NFL is really cracking down on taunting (which we saw in the Bengals/Ravens playoff game).  I'm getting tired of the runs to the end zone myself.  If they were really creative they would do something in the middle of the field for the overhead camera (like synchronized swimmers do)!  But nobody is asking me to help them with the chorography of their football celebrations!

I have 0 issues with a TD celebration.  If you catch a TD pass and want to hit the griddy, go for it.  You're already in the endzone.  But running with 10 of your teammates for 60 yards to sit down for a photo op just doesn't cut it.

Also tired of DBs striking a pose after an incomplete pass when all they did was watch the WR drop the ball or the QB chuck it into the ground.
