Man two KY schools have beat Huntington Prep this season. Just speaks volumes to the quality of basketball in the state this season.

Most of these prep schools are not elite teams anymore, seems like there is one on ever street corner.

Every kid on Huntington prep has d1 offers.  Like from Kansas for example. They are elite…

Excellent win by the Shamrocks!  With respect to out of state teams, I absolutely love seeing a KY team get the victory in these types of games!

I have the same question.

Didn’t go to game but probably two factors. Looking ahead to Huntington Prep.  Off night. Those things happen, especially at high school level.

They’re 17. Heck, one of them might have had an argument with his girlfriend.

There are D1 offers floating around to kids that couldn't play on a good JV team.LOL  Huntington Prep has been a train wreck since it started up a few years ago.

How do D1 schools make mistakes like that?

In my opinion there are numerous reasons.  The coaches rely to much on computer generated scouting reports and never actually see the kid play, or maybe just once.  Watch to many tapes and recruit too much on future growth and potential.  These are just a few.

I could mention a bunch of D1 recruits just from NKY that never worked out, but I won't bring up their names on here.

Obviously true that not all D1 recruits pan out. But- teams where every single member has a D1 offer would tend to be considered to have  “elite” talent. Maybe that is more accurate than saying the team is “elite”. Probably a lot more continuity on a traditional high school team than a prep school which would make a big difference in the actual matchup.
