If coach L had them in his pocket, I'd say that's a knock on the refs. If you're going to knock them, then knock them.

 

If it was a fairly called game, then they weren't in anyone's pocket. Which is it?:confused:

I thought the officials did a pretty fair job. They kept control of the game. I have seen other CCH / HHS games get alittle out of hand and it certainly wasn't the case last night.

I thought the game was horribly officiated, JMO. They missed a lot of fouls on both sides of the court, but I guess that is the way the game is played at Highlands. A lot of the out-of-bounds calls went to one team.......

 

Simpson is an incredible talent. He was unstoppable in the first half, and he was getting fouled all game.

Basically, this is what is great about the 9th region. I'm sure that many Highlands fans would admit that they would struggle against a team like Doss, Henry Clay, Warren Central, or other teams that are ranked worse that CovCath (Cantrall Ratings 1/8/07), especially with their second players. I don't think that this game is an indication of how weak the 9th region really is, really it shows how the NKY players, especially the underdogs, give it all on the court no matter who they are playing against.

Yes, he is a junior........

Simpson and Jacobs were the best players on the floor and you cant deny that. Jacobs from what I heard from the CovCath broadcasters was making no-look passes all night long and if he would have been at even 40% shooting I don't think the score would have been that close.

 

You gotta give it to the Highlands Juniors in this game. Simpson,Simons,Stein,Ball, Eaton and Stewart all seemed to step up in this big game and not make costly mistakes. It still would have be nice if someone else could prove themselves an offensive threat outside of Nic.

 

Where was Hurtt? and is he still on the team? He goes from starting in the early season to not even playing?

 

Tough Loss for the Birds but they shouldnt hang their heads, just get to the charity stripe in practice and shoot 100 a day because they will need them in March.

IMO missed Free Throws and Lay-ups cost HHS the game. The 3 pointer Simpson hit to cut it to 2 late in the game was a huge shot. I thought the Officials let them play, but not to the extent where it got out of hand. I also thought that players from both teams played with great sportsmanship and effort!!

Uh, I was there and no doubt last night he was the best player on the floor. The 1st half was absolutely unstoppable. CCH defense revolved around stopping him and they could'nt do it no matter who they put in. I was 2 rows behind the bench and Coach L was getting so steamed at one point I saw him scream at BB "Do you think you can stop him" "Well then get in there" In the second half he looked tired and it looked like CCH was trying to deny him the ball more than stop him when he had it. Simple concept if he does'nt have the ball he can't score unfortunately as we all know sometimes that's easier said than done

Yes, he's a junior and I'll modify the previous poster's statement and say he was the best "scorer" on the floor last night - at least for the first half. He was very, very good. He also hit a big 3 late to bring HHS back.

To be honest, if I'm Willie I want only 2 refs. He teaches them to play very aggressive defense and there's a lot of contact. 3 officials might lead to more foul calls against HHS and their short bench would be a problem in that case.

Just reiterates that it was a subpar performance by CCH and they still won the game. Sounds like the Birds played better than most expected and only lost by 3 pts so if CCH is clicking on offense and HHS is playing like they typically do, it is probably a 64-38 victory for the Colonels.

 

Glad to see the Birds put up a good fight though on their home court. I heard Simons' shot at the buzzer was verrrrrrrry close.
